What does the marketingandeventsco.com have to do with out sports?

I read Todd's (excruciatingly long) story about Boston College and decided to respond and there was the email address: toddh@themarketingandeventsco.com.

Is outsports a corporate scam?

For the record, couldn't really buy Todd's experience at BC as I know a lot of gay guys who are BC alums and from what I hear it's very queer-friendly campus.

Just for the record,

I have to admit I have wondered a little about that article.

I saw little or no descrimination when I was there.

It is of course a Roman Catholic University founded and run by the Jesuits. But the rigorous academic standards and reputation are part of what drew me there. I truthfully had little to do with typical student life.

Boston itself was VERY open and friendly - I don't think there is a more open and accepting city in N America. It was a great place to live.

I myself came out while living in Boston, and while I was VERY messed up, and required counseling, etc: none of that had to do with the nature of BC. It was because I was so messed up before hand.

In fact, a good friend of mine, and one who helped me through those very difficult times in my life, was one of the Jesuit professors there.

But that was over 12 years ago, I do not know what goes on there these days except for the constant requests for donations.

And truthfully people have different experiences and perceptions. It is too bad the author had such a difficult time.

Isn't that a ridiculously long leap? What does anyone's e-mail address have to do with anything? Corporate scam??? Come on. If you disagree with what he writes, fine.

Boston College is kind of schizoid around the principles of gay equality.

As Todd's article makes clear, the student body and most of the faculty are very open and positive. In the experience of friends who are or have been at BC, the school's Jesuit administrators seldom behave as the open-minded lefties they're sometimes cracked up to be. From the mid-level up on the admin side, the place is managed by intimidation, secrecy and personal politics. On the other hand, they're serious about intellectual inquiry and the Church's social doctrine, which instructs Catholics to engage with, enlighten and minister to the secular world.

Basically, they feel "icky" about sexuality, period. They get all wrapped up trying NOT to think about how gay people are using God's gift of reproductive organs, and don't say, but clearly feel, that we're particulary deserving of their disdain and pity. It's excellent that they're getting serious push-back from the masses.

WBDog, Todd's a freelance writer and entrepreneur. A promotional email address is hardly "a corporate scam".

marketingandeventsco.com is Todd's side business and has nothing to do with the articles he writes. Not sure why anyone would find the suffix of an e-mail some reason to criticize an article; quite a leap.
