Anyone else paying attention to the possibility of former Tennessee Volunteers and Washington Redskins QB Heath Shuler becoming a Congressman from the state of North Carolina?

Shuler is running as a Democrat, and is in a close race but he's expected to win Tuesday and unseat incumbent Republican Charles Taylor in North Carolina's District 11. In the latest poll out this week, Shuler is leading by 5 percentage points over the incumbent.

Hope he wins.

There was an article about this in Saturday's (November 4) Washington Post. The dead tree edition includes a picture of Shuler that seems not to be available online. I'll keep looking.

Congrats to Heath Shuler... he defeated the 8-term incumbent Republican.

From the profiles I saw on his campaign isnt he basically a conservative republican in Dem's clothing?

Doesn't that describe most of the Democrats in the South? They're still better than the actual southern Republicans who are completely insane. He must be awfully young, because I remember when he played for Tennessee and I didn't pay any attention to college football until I lived in the states in '92.

read yesterday that he's 34
