In the Redskins-Cowboys game, the boys gave one away at the end. The always "clutch" rolleyes.gif Vanderjagt lived up to his reputation by having a 35 yard chip shot blocked that would have won the game with time expiring. To make matters worse Dallas was flagged with a facemask penalty on the blocked return that put the skins in field goal range. This time Nick Novak redeemed himself making the 47 yarder after missing a 49 yarder a few minutes earlier.

Bills.....freaking....won!!!

Thank you Brett Farve, time to hang it up.

Since the Pats won't beat the Colts, that means the Bills will be the team to take down Indy next week. laugh.gif

McGahee injured, Losman still sucks, thank you defense for making the big plays and getting the takeaways that were sorely lacking in previous weeks.

Bears 31, Dolphins 13...no wait, it's the OTHER WAY AROUND!!! ohmy.gif Of course, if it weren't for Arizona the Bears would have two losses already.

And watching the Giants' utterly unimpressive effort to beat Houston, the fact that the Eagles handed the Giants a win in week 2 grows monumentally more shameful. But after I buried the Eagles last week, I must add a rebuttal from a knowledgable friend: the NFC sucks. There's no contender that is head and shoulders above the rest. None.

I can't believe you guys didn't mention the Lions beating the Falcons! ohmy.gif smile.gif laugh.gif

Meanwhile, Mike Vick who has been hyped all week after his last two performances, fell back to earth this week as the Falcons lost to the Lions. Sure, Vick had his usual abundance of running, but that didn't help his arm as he threw two INTs to the Detroit DBs. John Kitna on the other hand had one of his better days passing for over 300 yards.

Whoa....Lions beat the Falcons????

Now I don't feel so bad about the Bills.

If you see the highlight shows tonight, look out for Marques Harris, acrobat.

After recovering a Frye fumble for 6, he let off a handspring/backflip

Atlanta: Another NFC pretender. I guess this will quiet the Mike Vick hype machine for a bit. laugh.gif

So much for the offensive genius of Bill Parcells. He wanted to go for the two-point conversion instead of kicking in a PAT in the first quarter. blink.gif Huh? When did that sense of timing come in? Doesn't one usually go for two when it's some time in the fourth quarter?

I agreed with Troy Aikman's version of events. He questioned that call and it's the call that came back to haunt the 'Boys. That was a costly lesson to learn, as it cost just one game.

Who would've thought that Adam Vinatieri would miss two field goals and it wouldn't matter?

Same old thing for the Colts. Run roughshod through the regular season. Yeah, they'll lose a game or two and those ancient Dolphins can pop their corks again, but still I can't see the Colts not having homefield throughout the AFC playoffs. So once again, can they get into the Super Bowl?

That game last night was a real barnburner and I didn't have to tolerate an incompetent announce team. John Madden and Al Michaels are the #1 announce team in football today. Good call, NBC!

Peyton Manning looked great, as he always does in the regular season. It's the post-season games that he runs into trouble. I expect the same. He's one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, yet he is still considered a "choke artist" when it comes playoff time.

Add the Bengals to that list, by the way. Ocho Cinco...snicker. More like zero.

Seattle 16, Oakland 0. Yawn. I didn't watch most of it (and when I did I kept the sound muted). I did see Oakland's Tyler Brayton knee a Seahawk in the groin near the end of the game after a whistle. Wonder what the suspension will be?

I agree with you about the two point conversion. I didn't get it either. A 2 pt try in the first quarter? Why? And, boy, did that ever prove to be a mistake. But having said that, I don't think that's why the Cowboys lost the game. Vanderjagt missed a very makeble field goal that could have won the game in regulation, and, the refs screwed the Cowboys out of overtime by turning what was obviosuly an incidental 5 yard face mask penalty into a 15 yard personal foul penalty. Of course, my boy, TO, dropping an easy touchdown pass didn't help the Cowboys' cause much either.

I don't think Atlanta is a pretender. Vick and Dunn are the real thing. But if they are pretenders, then so is Rex Grossman. He's looked very bad two of the last three weeks. So much so, I'm dropping the Bears out of my top 10 in NFL Power Rankings. Grossman's lost his mind out there; not reading defenses, throwing the ball into coverage, refusing to throw the ball away when his receivers are covered. Grossman has got the "big head" now; he thinks he's Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Lovie needs to reign him in, before he loses that team their chance to make the playoffs. I don't trust Chicago anymore; not with Grossman at QB. But their defense is sensational, especially Urlacher.

The word is that the officials have been told that if there's the slightest doubt they should call the 15-yard penalty. Players are just going to have to learn to keep their arms below face level.

What amused me was Parcells' explanation for going for two, that the chart said that's what you should do. That's the old Rich Kotite excuse!

If you don't include the Bears, who still only have ONE loss, you'd have to include at least THREE teams with THREE losses. That's extremely illogical in my opinion.
Thomas
You were right, man. I tried, but couldn't keep the Bears out of the top ten without making a fool of myself. But I don't like Grossman....at all....and Lovie needs to call the plays from the sideline and force Grossman to honor them. Grossman has lost his mind. Just because the Bears play excellent defense is no reason for him to put them in impossible situations.

About the 15 yard face mask penalty against the Cowboys: I think it was obviously a 5 yard penalty, and most viewers agree that it was that. The refs were wrong.
