This deplorable incident happened at UCLA, as evidenced by this story from
KTLA. For those who want to see this video in its entirely,
here it is through Youtube.com.
The student claims to have simply forgotten this student ID, but the overreaction by the security guards seems to be completely unwarranted by what I heard and saw in the unedited video. I'm completely in shock that this would happen at UCLA, let alone that it happened here in California. My shock can barely be described at the moment.

I've read several accounts, and it seems the police's actions are indefensible. At one point, the student appears to be handcuffed AND has said he has a medical condition, yet is still Tasered as he's lying down. Don't Tasers immobilize some people (and kill others)? Did they take this into account? Why wouldn't they just escort the student out peacefully? From the video it doesn't look like he became violent. And they threatened some of the nearby witnesses, which doesn't seem legal. Really out of control--thank God for the fast-thinking bystander who caught some of it on tape!

Who recorded this video? Was this done on a cell-phone? If so, it came through with remarkable clarity. I couldn't make out what was really going on until everyone was by the doorway. Then, it's more like WTF? They (the cops) tasered him over, and over, and over. Tasers are not meant to be administered over and over like that. Tasers can and do kill folks who have a heart condition, and those who are being tasered over and over again, like this lad was. I've heard conflicting accounts about what happened before the tasing spree, but regardless of how "mouthy" this student may have been, nothing justifies being tased over and over again. Why do these goons have tasers in the first place? Also, how come everyone is sure this student is Muslim? Did he wear a patch proclaiming his Muslimhood? Does it really matter if this student was Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Lutheran or Agnostic? Nope. No human, no matter what religion, creed, race, or sexual identity, deserves to be tasered over and over again. Shame, shame, shame rent-a-cops at UCLA Library. SHAME!
