A sad day for the sporting world, as one hell of a talented athlete is calling it a career at such a young age. Ian Thorpe captured the imaginations of so many swimmers from across the globe. His style and form were second to none, and his smooth glide, tremendous accomplishments, and good looks helped make him one of the marque names in the sport and helped popularize swimming.
The Thorpedo will be missed, and I hope his life is as successful outside the pool as it was inside.

It is indeed sad news for the swimming world, but I, for one, am excited for him....I hope he has as much success with his new path, as he had with his swimming.
