So Kelly blasts Clay for doing exactly what she has been doing. For those who have defended Kelly, I will gladly await the apology for your mistaken conclusions. dry.gif

Clay Aiken falls in that category of people that cannot touch me with any appendage including, but not limited to, Michael Jackson, Mickey Rourke, George Bush, Mel Gibson, Tommy Lee, Gary Busey, etc.... I don't care if they're gay or straight, they just creep me out and disgust me. I don't think Kelly is a homophobe. She knows Regis and is friends with other people. Clay was just annoying. Watching the whole episode, I'm surprised she couldn't be more professional and control her disgust of Clay in general terms because he is so repulsive and obnoxious, but I don't think it had anything to do with him being gay. She has appeared with Carson from Queer Eye many times and is fine. Asked by the press, I would have to say the reason was "cold and flu season" too, because saying he is just a gross person doesn't play well. So no apology.

ROFLMAO....I couldn't agree more with that. That entire list is so accurate and there are plenty of others I could add as I'm sure you could've as well. But yes...Clay is CREEPY!!! He's just creepy. And I didn't even think about the fact that Kelly was already annoyed with Clay and was just tryin to imply his grossness without coming out and saying "you're a creepy, gross kinda guy" that had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with his sexual orientation. Good point bolt!!! But yeah...Clay is creepy. I mean he was creepy before but his creep-o-meter has really gone up since he made that appearance at the end of last season's Idol with that creepy, longer brown hair.

Doesn't seem to be much outrage at all there to me. In fact, you wrote the following in that thread:
"And IF "Dr. Burke" did call him a f****t, that's pretty funny if you ask me, because I think he's much more effeminate than T.R. Knight."

So not only did you think it was funny then, but you equated homosexuality with being effeminate. Hmm.

Not funny ha-ha, funny queer. And not queer in the gay sense of the word. Queer as in ironical.

First of all, there was no outrage because at the time I made that post, it had not yet been confirmed that Washington did call Knight a f****t. That happened later.

Secondly, as for equating being gay with being effeminate, it is not my association but society's. Particularly the segment of society that would call someone a f****t. Hence, it would be funny (i.e., ironic, odd, and/or peculiar) that the person using such an offensive word would be - in fact - rather uptight and prissy. It's a story as old as the hills: the lady doth protest too much. Not that I think Isiah Washington is gay, but he's certainly no one's pinnacle of manhood either.

And my point with Kelly was that you cannot definitively say she made sexuality an issue. You can't. That doesn't mean I believe her germ excuse. I don't. But if you (universal 'you') are going to try and make points about who said what and who made what an issue, it is Rosie O'Donnell who turned this from being a rude guest vs. talk show host encounter and made it into a larger debate on homophobia. Whether you agree with Rosie's assertions and think she's telling it like it is, that's speculation and opinion.

One might say, it's Rosie's "View". I happen to agree with her. Others don't. But to bash her, the way some here have, for offering up her opinion (on a show where she's paid to) doesn't make sense.

I don't think she's being "bashed" for this one opinion so much as her general disposition. tongue.gif

Which is where, dare I say it, I think we see a little homophobia on this board.

I love you dearly, but it's hardly homophobic to think Rosie O'Donnell is annoying. I see what you're saying - and certainly that is possible here on Outsports and in the big wide world - but brash and obnoxious can be found in men and women, gays and straights.

That said, I kinda like Rosie! But only in limited doses.

Annoying is everywhere, you're right.

It's just that sometimes here there seems to be a negative attitude towards Rosie because she's being stereotyped as a big, screaming lesbian. It disappoints me to here that kind of stuff from gay guys.

It's comments like these that give me that impression:

"The short of it is that Rosie has once again opened her big mouth on someone and blasted them for something she is assuming...She's had some run ins since she's been on the show and its just gettin old Rosie. Maybe Kelly isn't munchin it out right at home and she's got a 'tude."

Well since you called me out on my quote I have to respond. Rosie's sexual orientation has nothing to do with me complaining about her big mouth. And she does have a BIG MOUTH!! She's very opinionated and thats fine but IN MY OPINION...and IN MY VIEW...she lacks tact in certain situations and she comes off negatively to many people. It has nothing to do with her sexual orientation. The last part about Kelly not munchin it right at home was a simple joke, that you apparently have considered me being homophobic. If that is your view then fine...nothing I can do about that. But, just as Gaga said...people are annoying regardless of sexual orientation and I just find her incredibly annoying sometimes and someone that I too can only take in doses. I agree with many things that Rosie says and applaud her for standing up for gay rights but people can disagree with her vehemently for her style of expression and not be homophobic. Like I said...sometimes she's just a bit too abrasive for me and can get her point across without sounding like the stereotypical "loud mouthed New Yorker". Lesbian has nothing to do with it.

Good grief, talk about a thread that's jumped the shark rolleyes.gif. "Homophobia on this board?" Good grief.....

My boyfriend and I are so sick of Rosie O'Donnell. We hate it that she's a "role model' and think the faster she gets fired from The View and goes into retirement never to be seen again in public, the better. She doesn't represent us.

I agree with hot Maryland Terp on this one. Rosie just needs to shut up. What I don't get is the fact that everyone is calling out Kelly as homophobic but we aren't calling Clay Aiken on being SEXIST for trying to put his nasty hands on Kelly's mouth in the first place. Clay wouldn't have tried that with Regis, it was clearly a power play on his part.

Having OCD about people coughing and touching subway poles or sneezing and not covering their mouths and knowing that many people wipe their ass and don't wash their hands or touch themselves in erotic ways or if you are a guy get a piss back spray from urinals before you leave the bathroom and again don't wash your hands, I wouldn't want anyone, whether straight, gay, bi, or asexual to touch my mouth.
