I was channel surfing last night and fell into this, and what an interesting gem this was. Anybody else catch it? Mr. Cipal ( sp.?) basically denied anything and everything that Jim McGreevey said about him and their "relationship" in the program. In addition he said it was his opinion that the former New Jersey Governor was bisexual as opposed to gay, and mentioned several instances where he claimed to know that when the former Governor was in Europe he availed himself to prostitutes on more than one occasion. In another recollection, he mentioned being in a an official state vehicle and en route to Washington D.C. with McGreevey who he said was lying on the floor of the car, and then proceeded to "hump" Cipals foot/leg with his penis!! It may be interesting to hear McGreeveys reply in the next day or so, but Golan seemed to have an explanation for every instance that he was mentioned in the book. Hmmmmmm......

We saw it on and immediately hit the DVR record button. We will look at it tonight. I am not sure how much we missed of the show. I bought and read McGreevey's book. It was well.... okay.... if you want to know a whole lot about New Jersey government. biggrin.gif I thought it would be a more juice tell all book than it was. The parts of the book where he mentions Golan Cipel appear to be two consenting adults in a hidden relationship. He said Cipel really came on to him and he let it happen. The way the book reads you get the feeling Cipel was using McGreevey to get a job in the United States. Of course the book is written by McGreevey so he could make it say anything he wants it to say but I don't believe for a minute Cipel is oh so innocent here. I believe he was in a sexual relationship with McGreevey. It would be interesting to see if Cipel comes out with a book of his own. Was that mentioned on the Larry King Live show last night?

The transcript is up. The Cipel/McGreevey piece starts about a third of the way down the page.

Thank you, fenwayguy, for the link to the transcripts for those of us (including me) who missed this juicy bit of the McGreevey tale.

I truly believe they did have a sexual relationship together. Further, I do believe that Cipel may have said no at the start but by the end, he knew he was getting ahead in the governmental hierarchy because of that sexual relationship. The exposure of that led Cipel to reconsider his original denial. It's all quite complicated and unnecessary, really.

Is McGreevey entirely correct? Not likely.

Is Cipel entirely accurate in his recollections? Hardly.

That leaves the truth somewhere in the middle of their skewed memories of what did and did not happen.

Indeed UCLA. Its now a case of he said, he said. Stay tuned for McGreevey's reply, which should be interesting I would think. Wonder if Larry has him scheduled again. laugh.gif rolleyes.gif

They both seem disingenuous to me. The truth probably falls somewhere in between their accounts. But, it's all pretty distasteful at this point.

I'm not so sure about it being a case of "he said, [s]he said." In fact, I hate that phrase.

I think in most situations like this, one person is telling the truth and one is lying. It's rare that it's a little bit of both, but people have caught on to that "he said, [s]he said" thing over the years and it's mostly used as a cop-out just so no one has to investigate and uncover the truth.

I would venture to say that Cipel's scenario sounds more plausible than McGreevey's. And he was a politician living a lie for years, so I'm not convinced at all that he's suddenly telling the truth now.

Oh that's not Cipel in the picture... wacko.gif

Cipel is trying to play the victim of sexual harrassment by McGreevy.
