Our local PBS station is in the midst of another pledge drive.I don't know if all local PBS stations are the same in other large cities but I noticed quite often the same performers will donate their time and copies of a filmed concert.One such performer is an Irish gentleman named Daniel O'Donnell.Though I think it's very generous of him to help the stations out,I honestly cannot see why he is so popular.He is not much of a singer.Until PBS,I had never heard of him.I guess he might be a big star in Ireland...who knows?

Daniel is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, more of a sticky bun actually, but has a huge and very devoted female fanbase, of advancing years, in Ireland, Britain and here in the US. His albums have charted in the Billboard Top 20. He could be considered the "King of Nice". His fans are one of the categories of people who would be watching PBS and would also warm to the persistent "Celtic Women". He has toured the US for years selling out venues, cant think of any names but I guess he would be a regular visitor to Nashville.

Did he ping your gaydar? There were rumours about his sexuality for years but he married a divorcee about 5 years ago.

No he didn't ping my gaydar nor do I find him attractive.I think his singing style would be more like "no style" Mr.O'Donnell's performances seem lackluster and lethargic.It figures that he would be more popular with the old folks.I find it amazing that certain performers with so little talent can find an audience.There are so many great singers out there who never get the same opportunities.
