Viriginia Tech brings in a company to administer flu shots for a $25 fee. I have gotten one two years in a row. Seems well worth it!

Always. I came down with flu-related pneumonia a few years ago -- trust me, being hospitalized for "can't breathe"
really sucks.
My HMO offers the flu shot free (i.e. no co-payment). Free in the healthcare business means there must be HUGE opportunity savings in preventing the illness vs the cost of the vaccinations. Not to mention the misery avoidance factor.

Paying the $15 fee for this shot saves greatly on the actual costs from the workplace and social setting. That does the trick for me in desiring to have one every year.

Do any of you where you work offer flu shots for free or for a small fee?
I had my shot just recently and I got mine for free.

I get a flu shot every year, and so far have been lucky enough not to catch anything worse than a light cold in winter. A company comes in and gives a shot to anyone that wants it for $2.

Actually here in Ontario if you just go to your doctor the shots are free all covered as part of the government health plan that all of us automatically have up here in the Great White Socialist North.

My HMO pays for them, and I encourage all my employees to get them (Less unproductive time off from work).

I use to be that guy (and at times, I still can be); however after one winter where I got sinusitis and bronchitis at the same time and I couldn't get off work since we were short staffed beyond reason, I am first in line to get a flu shot at the office.

Eddie- Feel better soon!!
What really sucks at our work is that the flu shot has pretty much become mandatory. They are thinking that for healthcare workers in the future that the CDC may make it as mandatory as other vaccinations.
They made us sign a form if you are refusing or declining the flu shot- stating that by signing the form that you understand you are putting your co-workers and patients at risk by not obtaining the flu shot.
I thought that was a little too big brother for me- but I decided to go ahead with the flu shot anyways (it was free).
Side note- I got a bruise and swelling around my injection site- a little sore- and I have been a bit fatigued- but both are expected potential side-effects after the vaccine.

My company arranged to have flu shots given at the office. In the past I've gone to the mall where they have free public clinics for flu shots. I've had no side effects.

Thanks Kick,
I guarantee that I will get the shot next time.I haven't been this sick for quite some time.Thank goodness my doctor prescribed some cough syrup which contains codeine as the coughing has kept me awake several nights.Nyquil and the other types do not seem to work for me.What really knocked me off my feet was the fever/chills.I get a sinus infection about every other year but getting this one on the heels of the flu has been too much.I am so exhausted and I have so much I need to do for the holidays!

I'm an asthmatic, so the flu can be very serious for me. My company has consistently offered flu shots (for free), and ever since 1998, when I ended up with the flu, which turned into bronchitis, which turned into walking pneumonia, I have gotten the shot. Given the number of parents with small children (also known as "disease vectors" in epidemiologic parlance), and the amount of travel we do here (I'll hit about 75K miles - all domestic - this year alone), it just makes sense to get the shot, because we are nearly guaranteed to get hit by any epidemic. I've gotten the flu about twice even after getting the shot, but both times it has been a really mild case (2 - 3 days of sickness instead of 6 - 8).

This is the first year I ever got the flu shot. I'd always resisted in the past but I was with a friend at work and they were giving them away free so I decided to do it. Naturally I'm sitting here with the flu for the first time in at least 3 years. I don't get it.
