Let's hope it's minor (if there is a "minor stroke). Keep your fingers crossed.

If anything worse were to happen to him, and his seat is vacated, the GOP Governor of South Dakota could replace him with a GOPer, making the balance of power in the Senate 50-50. Gives Cheney the tieberaker, and power back to the Republicans.

I knew the victory could be too good to last! sad.gif

It apparently wasn't a stroke after all, according to a hospital spokesperson.

According to an MSNBC report tonight, unless Sen. Johnson resigns or is deceased, the GOP governor in South Dakota has no way to appoint a replacement. The reason is because there is no clause or law in the Constitution or in South Dakota law that would spell out replacement by incapacitation. It's only spelled out by death or resignation. Thus, Sen. Johnson could stay in office for as long as he is alive, even if he's on life support.

My thoughts are with him and his family. Lets hope he makes a full recovery and soon.

I heard this question tonight on Stephanie Miller's radio show. Why are Republicans seem so eager to have Sen. Johnson disabled but they wanted to prolong the persistent vegitative state of Terri Schiavo? Could this be?

To those ghoulish GOP'ers, as our friend MIB would say, "Oh, the hypocrisy!" dry.gif

Actually it's right in line with all of their belief in selective rights.

There is a selective right to life.

There is a selective right to marry.

There is a selective right to speech.

The acception is the right to bear arms. Everyone is required to, whether they want to or not.

As for gays, we have been selected for elimination. Isn't it nice to be part of a select group? I would like to select my mode of elimination. First I select to be between Javon Walker and Trent Green in bliss. cool.gif
