This thread might be better off with the other Gay Games threads. If it hadn't been the most current thread in Tennis I wouldn't have seen it and been able to add my best wishes for bridgeport jake -- go for the gold!

Lots of love for BPJ. Congrats! Good luck in the finals, bud. When I'm in town next month, the four of us need to hit the courts again.

Hey, I liked the thread in tennis where it was! oh well. Anyway, more drama. We arrived at Northwestern today and were promptly informed that one of our opponents had just been disqualified from the D level after a USTA official watched his singles final match (which he was leading 6-2 5-2) and determined that he was NOT a D level player! People had been complaining about him all tournament.

So we won the gold, in a sort of momo @ the Australian moment. But I feel we played really well all tournament long & deserve it...

I feel bad for the people Mr. Ramirez beat, who could have gotten medals in singles & doubles had they played against other D folks. So it goes, so it goes...

Anyway, I'm really thrilled and so is my mom, who was there for every shot!!

Thanks to everyone on Outsports for your support. I'll have this puppy on for awhile.

Congrats BPJ! Don't let that disqualification bother you. You deserve it!

We're certainly racking up the medals here on Outsports! smile.gif

Congratulations! I want to see your gold medal up close and personal in September when I'll be in Chicago!

Definitely, FCMN! Let me know when you'll be around and we'll meet up for a drink and a look at my bling... biggrin.gif

I was there! What awesome courts--at Northwestern and the indoor one (where I broke my non playing arm) at McFettridge Park. I'd love to chat with anyone who was there.

The Northwestern courts really were awesome. Our A mixed doubles final was moved to Northwestern's indoor courts due to rain on Friday, and that venue was very, very spectator friendly. The faster surface suited our opponents' game a little more than ours, but we still managed to win the gold in a close three set comeback. What an awesome experience!

I am so happy for the Chicago volunteers and staff who made Gay Games VII such a success. How can anybody possibly give Chicago a C grade after facing up to all those obstacles and still managing to deliver the first profitable Gay Games in 20 years? I guess there will always be people moving the goal posts. Anyway, congratulations Chicago Gay Games! You did it!

See you all in Cologne 2010.
