Jim Grobe was rewarded with the AP Coach of the Year award after leading the perennial ACC doormats to the conference title and a BCS Bowl Game. Here's how the voting went:

Jim Grobe, Wake Forest 39
Greg Schiano, Rutgers 12
Bob Stoops, Oklahoma 6
Jim Tressel, Ohio State 3
Houston Nutt, Arkansas 2
Bret Bielema, Wisconsin 1
Chris Petersen, Boise State 1
Bobby Petrino, Louisville 1

Schiano certainly would have been a worthy winner, but transforming Wake Forest, even a down year for the ACC, was a pretty remarkable feat.

Gotta wonder about the 3 boobs were who voted for Jim Tressel or the 6 who voted for Bob Stoops. I mean, really?

There's no question the job Grobe did at Wake was remarkable, but I really think Shiano should have gotten the award. A lot of people don't realize just how awful the Rutgers program had been. When he arrived six years ago, he was pretty much putting a high school team out on the field. A lot of people here in NJ said it was impossible to win at Rutgers. Schiano hsa proven them wrong. Now, of course, the real test will be to see if he can continue the success of this year.
