The passing of Gerald Ford brings to mind, for those of us of a certain age, his sons, Jack and Steven, who were a pair of blond blue-eyed Nordic hotties. I can remember a shirtless photo of Stephen in short, tight cutoffs washing his car in a driveway at the White House. Does anyone else remember it? Steve Ford became an actor, never married ... well .....

I got to meet Stephen Ford when he was here in 1976 campaigning for his Father. He was drop dead gorgeous!

I couldn't find any decent photos of Steven Ford, but I do remember him on Y&R...he played Andy Richards from 81-87. This was the only photo I could find from his Y&R days.



Steven was originally cast in the movie Grease (the Lorenzo Lamas role), but dropped out before filming began.

Since his Y&R days, he's done guest spots on Babylon 5, Baywatch, Columbo, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Flipper and Circus of the Stars.

This thread suddenly got my attention, so I did a little exploring.

It turnes out that Steven Ford has a nice acting career to be proud of -- with roles in many top name movies. Here is his IMDB profile. He was also (as someone mentioned) on Y&R in the 80's and then returned a few years ago.

Jack Ford seems to be a bit less visible these days as I found nothing of recent times on him.

Also interesting was the complete lack of photos online of the two Presidential sons. Perhaps that is due to security reasons, but there was really not much of anything online to represent them.

I remember Steven Ford played Meg Ryan's b/f in one short scene in " When Harry met Sally" - Handsome guy!!

One of the Ford sons -- I can never remember which -- was famously "outed" in the early '80s by gossip columnist Liz Smith. She had an item in her column saying that he was at Uncle Charlie's (a famous NYC gay bar) on Election Night watching the returns on their video screens. This caused quite a stir at the time, and less than a month later another item was floated, to the effect that some model or other was suing him for paternity of her soon-to-be-born child. Coincidence?

Any one see Steve F yesterday? That man has aged wonderfully. He's 50 now, I think.

Steve Ford's hair may have thinned, but he still looks great ... can't say as much, sadly, for big bro Jack, who's put on a lot more weight in these 30 years or so that his little bro.

Sitll wish I could see that photo of Steve washing his car in cutoffs again. Have looked everywhere I can think of to find it, and it doesn't seem to be on the Web

A google search led to a column reporting the belief that one of the Ford sons is gay and that was perhaps a reason that the former president was so outspoken in his and Betty's defense of gay rights and equality.

I think Steve will come out eventually. I loved him on Y&R. Anyone notice he was the only child who shed tears during those days of services.
