Now, all we need is an active player to come on outta the closet. Don't know 'bout you, but I was teenager in the 70's without a single role model out there. I loved basketball first and then went on to play tennis also.
I have often said that an active Gay professional (in the big four: baseball, b-ball, football, hockey) would not come in my lifetime. Now I think it is possible. And I don't buy into Tim Hardaway's apology. What he said initially is the truth. He HATES gay people. Question is, who taught him to hate like that? What do you think?

My story is similar,Art.Though the 70s may have been a time of transition, progress has still been slow-going for the gay community. There really are still a shockingly huge amount of folks just like Tim Hardaway out there. They come in all shapes, sizes and color.I don't know who taught Hardaway to hate but he's old enough now to make his own decisions.BTW,welcome to the board.

I met John Amaechi last nice. Nice guy with a soft spoken voice. He said when he was last in Philadelphia to play against the Sixers, he ventured in to the Philly gayborhood and got picked up!

God Bless Tim Hardaway! It's great that high-level officials are forced to publicly announce their position. I had no idea the CBA didn't discriminate based on sexual orientation.
