Collectively, it appears we Americans are more knowledgeable than we were 20 years ago about science in general. That's the good news.

The bad news is that more people now believe that evolution didn't occur and that creationism did. Oh, how wonderful!

Yes, it's true, more people believe in the existence of extraterrestrials than they do in the myth of Bigfoot. I am chalking it up to three generations that grew up on "Star Trek" in one form or another and that wildly popular "X-Files" a decade ago. The truly good news is tempered by truly not-so-good news.
