Just starting a new thread on the World Champions!

While I'm sure he's been accused of being asleep at the wheel while managing, this is the first time (that we know of) that manager Tony LaRussa has literally been found asleep at the wheel:

Looks like someone was taking an alcohol induced nap. No schadenfreude here, my favorite team had a player wrap his car around a tree last month, this is not a happy situation.

Fortunately the Cardinals have enough talent to win even if LaRussa is blitzed out of his mind, so I hope he addresses the DUI properly and gets any help if he needs it.

At this point, short of killing someone, he couldn't do much wrong in Cardinals' fans eyes. He did pilot one of their weakest teams ever to a World Series win.

The season starts on Sunday--Go CARDINALS!

They swept in Pittsburgh, and even with Carpenter out, they're looking okay. Go Cardinals!

Cards' pitcher Josh Hancock was killed in a car crash. Tonight's Cubs-Cards game has been postponed.

It was 5 years ago that Cards pitcher Darryl Kile was found dead in his hotel room...

Three days before his death, the Cardinals got a scare that some teammates said reminded them of Kile's death -- Hancock overslept and showed up late for a day game in St. Louis. Hancock told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he thought the starting time was later and didn't get up until the "20th call" from anxious teammates.

"We were all a little nervous," closer Jason Isringhausen said earlier this week. "We don't care if you're late. That happens. We want to know that you're OK."

Absolutely terrible...

Hancock's death is really saddening. God bless his family and the Cardinals at this terrible time.

Hancock was involved in an accident that morning in Sauget, over on the East Side. At 5 A.M. The area where he was is a popular afterhours/strip club area.

Given all the sanctimoniousness over taking PEDs, why is the media so slow in asking the question: was Hancock DUI?

The autopsy/toxicology tests were done yesterday, but won't be known for a few weeks. Hancock was reportedly at Mike Shannon's restaurant having drinks Saturday night.

They're in:

drunk, on his cell, weed in the car.

Let's be glad he didn't take anyone with him.

Mr. P has now homered in 5 straight games, and became the first player ever to hit 30 home runs in his first 7 seasons in the league. If the Cubs and Brewers lose tonight, the Cards will be just 2 games back in the division lead.
