It's too bad Washington State couldn't pull off the win against Vandy. Oregon played well, and Aaron Brooks wasn't even firing his three's. Tajuan Porter, at 5-6, is fun to watch and when he's hot, he'll shoot the 3 from anywhere on the court. Ducks in the sweet 16 for the first time since the Luke & Luke show in 2002. My bracket is trashed, but at least my final four is still in tact.

GO DUCKS.

Whew, my Gators barely got past Purdue.... but I think the challenge is only going to make them better.

That was a great game to watch. Purdue played as tough as they could the whole game, but Florida showed off all of there talent at the end.

A lot of great matchups coming in the next round, but UCLA/Pitt will be the game I look forward to the most.

My favorite team left to watch is Southern Illinois, but Kansas is looking damn tough right now.

Oregon better look out for the Runnin Rebels. They have everything coming together at the right time.

Been away from the Board a while so I am going to go back to address Pitt's free-throw shooting, or LACK of free-throw shooting. It's interesting, because Jamie says they DO work on it at every single practice. And their percentage has creeped up a bit each year. The most frustrating thing is that Gray has such good form, and his misses are always so close. It's not like he's throwing up bricks. And as far as Fields at the end of regulation agianst VCU, well, the moment was just apparently too big for the little guy. I mean, when he shot that second one, you could visibly see the tightness in his entire body. You are all right...the FT-shooting needs to get better, but I like our chances against UCLA!

Let's Go Pitt!
The-Ultimate
This is Pitt's first opponent in the NCAA from a major conference in 6 games, since losing to Oklahoma St in Sweet 16 in 2004. (Pacific 2005, Kent St/Bradley 2006, Wright St/VCU 2007) As a Pitt fan, will be a nice change of pace as our guys will be as motivated as ever.

Around the Horn, which boasts more opinions than facts, had all the panelists complaining yesterday that UCLA-Pitt will be the ugliest Sweet 16 game ever with no offense. I laugh at how much those columnists lean on the stereotypes as opposed to analyzing and thinking about things. Pitt's scoring average is signifigantly higher this year, even in the tournament and this should be an excited game of teams with similar styles.

What game(s) in Sweet 16 do you guys think will produce the best matchup, not of hype, but of a quality competition on the court?

Anybdy going to the South Regional? It should be a great regional, especially for the Aggies. It was a close one to get out of Lexington past the Louisville home crowd. Now the Aggies get home court advantage in front of 30,000 fans.

I love how Coke is still doing the advertisement of the Virginia Tech fan during the Southern Illinois/Kansas game as SIU eliminating VT on Sunday. The Virginia Tech fan must have ran out of Coke during last Sunday's game. Southern Illinois is doing a great job of making Kansas play it's game. Kansas is up 47-45 right now.

Some bitter Illini fan in Blacksburg bought it all. laugh.gif

Kansas is the first of the Elite, fighting off the Salukis

Thought for certain that Kansas was going to blow the game, especially after they blew those two free throws late.

Memphis/A+M neck and neck....two great games to start the regionals......

Yep another close one between the Aggies and the Tigers, and the Tigers prevail. I was hoping A+M would pull off the mild upset, too bad Law missed the layout in the final minute of the game.

Yes, a great night at the South Regional. I was shocked at the comeback by OSU on Tennessee. You could definitely see two different teams between the first and second halves. It made for a long night but definitely one I enjoyed. We almost left at the beginning of the second half but I'm glad we stayed. A nail-biter to the end.

Whew! Sloppy play by the Ducks tonight. Way too many turnovers. Maarty Leunen made some horrible decisions and almost single handedly lost the game for the Ducks. Poor shot selection, poor passing, couldn't hit 2 pressure free throws, and fouling the guy when he should have just given away the dunk. It turned out to be a 4 point swing. On the plus side, he did hit 3 3's. Damn. Litttle Tajuan Porter came to play tonight and showed the nation why Duck fans are hyped up about his play. This guy will shoot the three from anywhere on the court and his release is just so quick. Stop! Pop! Porter for THREE! Aaron Brooks & Bryce Taylor had a really quiet evening tonight.

They are all going to have to be hot on Sunday in order to topple the Gators. Leunen better pull his head out of his ass and not have a game like tonight. It should be a good, fun uptempo game.

GO DUCKS

I thought after sleeping it off I'd be ok. Nope... I was wrong. Right now, I'm the definition of a sore loser. And I officially hate Georgetown as much as I hate the "University" of Tennessee. Ugh, I'm still pissed.

Welcome to the Party, I've been a lifelong Pitt fan and along with every Big East fan, have despised Georgetown for years now like OSU's hate towards Michigan.

I get tired of these sportswriters who feel defense is ugly. I've never really understood the excitement about dunking uncontested shots. The thing that makes the college game interesting is the variety of playing styles. Maybe people find up-tempo teams like North Carolina exciting, but if every team in the NCAA played like North Carolina, personally I think it would be boring. If that's what you want, watch the NBA.

UCLA defeated KU yesterday, dashing my hopes that the 'Hawks would make it to the Final Four this year.

Although I'm sad KU isn't moving on, I'm pleased that the 'Hawks advanced further this year than they did the past two years. I hope KU fans will appreciate the team for its accomplishments this year, including the trip to the Elite Eight, instead of pissing and moaning that Self should have taken them even further.

UCLA now joins Duke on my list of teams to dislike.

Man....I swear I was just in a time warp watching the end of the UNC/Georgetown game. The Hoyas were their old school self with their shut down defense taking care of the Heels......all that was lacking was some brutally physical play, the occasional cheap shot and possible brawl. Congrats to them....

I have never seen a #1 seeded team stink up the joint as bad as UNC did in overtime. They basically just packed it in once overtime began. So it looks like it will be two years in a row now without an ACC team in the final four. Oh how the mighty have fallen. ohmy.gif

I thought that the UNC/Georgetown game was a classic from start-to-finish. The first shot of the game wasn't missed until 3-4 minutes in. UNC was up by 5-10 for much of that 2nd half, but Georgetown kept keeping it close. I'm surprised that UNC didn't try to get to the free throw line any more than they did in the last 3 minutes of the regulation.

I'm enjoying this tournament a lot because of the powerhouse games that are occurring in these later rounds. Should be a great Final Four.

Truly the stinking began a good five minutes before OT. How many shots did they miss? even open uncontested ones -- and compounded by a lack of rebounds. It was as if the badgers had put on the carolina blue for that part of the game.

On a somber note, the North Carolina mascot, who had been hit by a vehicle 3 days ago, passed away this morning. Prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends.

Shamu, the Sea World whale, just predicted that Florida will win the NCAA championship. Talk about a homer!

Seems strange though -- wasn't Shamu just buried in Bahamas after the legal proceedings?
Boltergeist
OSU just took out Georgetown in one of the most blah final 4 games ever.

The Oden-Hibbert matchup never materialized as it seemed like they were on the court together for like 3 minutes.
