I came across
this article on MSNBC which details how music or TV can affect your workout negatively. I guess that I figured this out for myself, that I didn't heed the warnings of my body at one point. That led to my pulling a hamstring because I thought I knew better. I didn't. It just makes me feel a little better that now others may read that and avoid a painful injury like mine.

I have XM radio to go pumped in my ears when I work out. It's really handy to have when your body is dragging, but the music is motivating you to keep going!

I love my iPod, but not during workouts. That being said, the gym better have good music pumped in. I prefer to workout to dance music or rock. Occasional C&W works fine, too...
