Bush has lied so many times to so many people about so many things that he seems to think constitutional immunity is like a tetanus shot. He should know that they dont always work either.
Now he has apparently supported underlings who lied to cover up the fact that he had them fire folks who were not towing the party line as AGs. But these were HIS AGs he hired.
Did they "betray" him? Has he betrayed us?
Will the Republicans in congress have the balls to impeach a president who cares more about his own ego than the future of the party.
Stay tuned.

When you think this administration has hit bottom, they find a new low. President Bush acts more like Richard Nixon everyday. The whole bunch needs to go and it needed to happen yesterday.

One of the weaknesses of our constitutional "separation of powers" - which supposedly gives equal power to the judicial, executive and legislative branches - is that one (and only one) of those branches vests all of that power in one person: the president as commander-in-chief of the armed forces and direct employer of the highest officials in the executive branch faces little chance of impeachment because of the high political bar set by the constitution.
Hence things like firing attorneys who don't enforce those laws the president chooses to have enforced, when the president wants them enforced and for whom the president wishes to have them enforced, becomes a very real possibility.
And it corrupts the entire system of rule of law.
Our current president is simply selfish, insecure and irresponsible. Generally such people are restricted by legal, social and cultural limitations.
This office is the only one in the country that is inadequately overseen.
Supposedly I guess a strong presidency would make execution of the law, and defending the nation, more efficient since it would not require debate. But we are seeing how the office can be corrupted when at peace.

I saw tonight that the main oppo researcher guy who Karl Rove had installed in Arkansas, Tim Griffin, apparently lied about the number of cases he'd tried! He said he'd tried 40, but now the Army is saying he only worked on THREE, none of which went to trial. Also, Orrin Hatch claimed Griffin had been the "right hand man" of ousted US Attorney Bud Cummins, but Cummins is actively disputing that. The more light that's shined on the Bush gang's activities, the worse it appears they really are. And we still have another year and some months....

To borrow a line from BBCs 'Little Britian', 'What that boy (GB) needs is a nice stiff cock up his ass.' In other words, maybe he'll get his head screwed on straight.

The difference this time is the charge that politics apparently played a role in their dismissal.
Yes, the president can fire US attorney's at will. But so can any other dictator.
Don't like the message? Fire the messenger.
So what is the difference between our president and a dictator?

Ok, you got me there. But with any luck this one won't have one for long either.
