A great big DC welcome visitors for the NAGAAA World Series Aug. 19-23. Your fresh fun friendly fierce and festive DC Area OutSporters are having another infamous happy hour on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at the
Green Lantern.
Because we wise DC-types learn from our experiences, this event will feature FOOD. Bostongirl is bringing a couple of party trays from Giant. Nothing fancy, but some sustenance so that those who choose to consume firewater don't get burned (the heck with the turtle, I still fear the
apple). Bring a couple of bucks to contribute to the Food Fairy Fund if you'd like to munch.
Festivities start at 6 p.m. and end whenever we have to hit the party-pause button. As requested by CPT Doom, I'll bring directions to his place for the next event, a NFL-watching potluck on Sunday, Sep. 14.
See you Wednesday!

Check out the link in GJ's post at the top. The Washington Post actually wrote a review on the Green Lantern and it's upstairs counterpart, "The Toolshed." Talk about the liberal media. (I'll be there, BTW).

Wow, in the Post? That's just scary.
I'll be there as well, though not in terry cloth. I was thinking a nice chamois outfit.

This I gotta see. I mean, this is the guy who boldly announced that he would wear seersucker and a visor to the last event, and...
it worked, much to everone's surprise. I think the Fab Five should check this one out. I mean, for someone with such misguided politics, that William is a cutie!

I will be there. I am wearing a brand new black shirt bought at Target, along with a black belt, black trousers, black socks and black shoes. I'm going for the Stevie Nicks look without the shawls and the platform boots. LOL
See y'all there!

Met him last night at the Green Lantern. Stand in line...
And (reprising a thread from last winter) I still want him to cut my grass and bring me lemonade. Loincloth is optional. Pay Per View tickets on sale soon.

I had a great time. It was good to meet people in person for the first time. Good idea with the food, GatorJamie. I didn't see anybody with a camera, unless the camera came out after I left, so I don't know if there will be any pictures.

...made it into work at 8.40 this morning (unshaven). I woke up with that damn plastic bracelet (for all you can drink well drinks) around my wrist. They put it on my left wrist, and being left-handed, I couldn't find a right-handed pair of scissors anywhere at my place.
NOTE TO SELF: Get a right-handed boyfriend!

Oh, and thanks to everyone for a great time. It was nice meeting more OutSporters. Thanks for bringing the snacks, GatorJamie and BostonGirl. Although, next time please remember to bring more cheese. We clearly didn't have enough!

Right on the money, Cattledog....even though the crowd was a little lighter than the first one (too bad pat125 and canmark couldn't make it down again) I think last night surpassed the Happy Hour at 30 degrees (I was actually much more awake and able to enjoy some of the festivities this time)....and the food/party platters that GatorJamie and BostonGirl brought were a terrific idea -- big kudos to the ladies for taking such good care of us gay guys again.

Yer welcome, guys! It was a lot of fun - and my non-headache and chipper spirits today are due to apple-abstinence last night... wink
Thanks everyone for coming! Be sure to RSVP with CPT Doom for the Sept. 14 NFL potluck...
NINE more days...

p.s. Great to meet curtj, RGMike, and out-of-town OutSporters!

How did I not meet curtj? Or did I? I think I would have remembered, I wasn't that drunk. Whatever. This Green Lantern place is right across from a gym, and there was a really hot guy on one of the treadmills, and I got a bit wrapped up in him. (Why Wm doesn't have a boyfriend, Reason #2,593: On a Wednesday night out he falls for guys who aren't even in the same building...) But all in all a good night.

Sorry I couldn't get back for this event; friends of mine from DC are coming here instead. But it sounds like a great time at a great venue and I congratulate you, GJ, on your taste in bars!
William, it would have been good to hang with you too. We could have done a
tableau a deux portraying the martyrdom of St. Sebastian!

Of course, it was fun last night. Yeah, I was thinking of locking Curt in my basement and charging for visitation rights.

wink
I'll have to keep that well drinks thing in mind now that I know how to GET to Green Lantern. hehe
And it was great to be able to gush about Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts with a fellow B-Rob fan!

LMAO!

....and the reason why I'm laughing so hard at your "dilemma" William is only because I've thought the exact same thing only about a few hundred times lately....oh well, it was great meeting all the new Outsporters and getting a chance to know some of the guys that either weren't at last month's Happy Hour or I didn't get a chance to chat with at 30 degrees -- either that or my memory is failing me again.

Are the windows at the Green Lantern tinted, or can the guys running on the treadmills in the gym see the Outsporters gawking at them across the alley?

Hey all,
Nice seeing everyone again.... even if I still can't get names right... sigh.... I had to do a double the next day so needless to say, I had to curb the drinking
I'll be at the Redskins kick-off game at the Captain's place. I'm already geared up for football games.... anyone for a Terp opener and WVU fans (you know who you are).... I'm ready for a road trip for a Backyard BRAWL too!
see you in the funny fag rags.....

I'm glad you all had fun without me (sniff), but hopeful that same spirit of fun can spill over into the potluck.
I remembered you all with a drink in the Castro Wednesday night.

That is the best feature of the Green Lantern, and apparently there are quite a few "straight" boys who like to show off for the happy hour crowd (perhaps you would have had better luck than you think WM). And yes, the gym rats can see in a little, but the view is pretty one-sided.

I used to work out at that gym on Sunday's when mine was closed -- there were always some hot guys there. One in particular brings back fond memories -- very handsome, tall and built (like a tight end) -- always wore Crimson Tide shirts. Eye candy at the gym helps me workout longer and harder (and I'm a big fan of longer and harder ...)
Sorry I missed the happy hour -- but as consolation we ran into GatorJamie and BostonGirl yesterday -- nice to finally meet (albeit briefly) the woman who keeps you honest, GJ!

Finally made it home from my trip! it was great getting to meet a few of you at the lantern. you know, i made it back to that place a little later in the week and allow me to say it was a VERY DIFFERENT BAR a day later.
Thanks to GatorJamie for being such a fabulous hostess. and many thanks to Dunumber44 for setting up volleyball on tuesday. sorry we had to beat you at darts, repeatedly.
I also have it on good authority that my team mate Dave had fun meeting the group too.
A crack on the head, yardwork in a loincloth... you kids sure know how to make a boy feel welcome!

I didn't have 'net access all week, so a belated thanks to Jamie for organizing, even tho' I got there kinda late. The protests & challenges in "D" division really sucked, more on that in another thread.
