Chris should have won. I loved the green color he chose. The back of that dress was beautiful.
Ugh..the blue thing with rhinestones was hideous. The stones looked cheap and it was way too short. Come on...at least give the challenge to Sweet Pea, since she was in the top 2. Not Victorya!
I'm over Ricky. He needs to stop the damn crying and learn how to design better. He's clearly out of his league in this competition.
Christian is a better person than I. He dealt with way more from her than was required. That little b!tch needed to shut the hell up. What a twat...

I really did like
Sissybear's dress a lot! I thought it was the most beautiful one on the runway, but the judges think otherwise.
If I was a teen girl on there, I would have chosen him too. You know you'd stand out at Prom.

Thanks for the "Rami in towel shot." It really made my night.
On to this week's show: If Ricky hadn't been the team leader, I know he would have been tossed out. The avant-garde dress he and Kit cooked up was a cross between Scarlett O'Hara and Holly Hobbie, and the ready-to-wear outfit wasn't much better. The two dresses together were much worse than Rami's and Sweet P's.
I was distressed to see Rami and Sweet P clash — they're two of my favorite designers, and I didn't want to see either of them wind up at the bottom. I liked Rami's avant-garde dress (even Sweet P admitted that she liked it), although it was a bit too reminiscent of his previous winners. And I fell in love with Sweet P's ready-to-wear dress — I thought it was second only to Victorya's.
Christian/Chris' avant-garde dress was certainly over the top — I liked the concept, but I would have preferred a more vibrant color. For my money, Jillian/Victorya's outfits were the best overall.

Jan 18 2008, 01:06 AM
It seemed like Christian and Chris (and also Victorya) were the only ones who truly knew what avant-garde meant. Christian just makes me laugh all the time. He is so talented for being so young.
And poor Rami... he continues to design the same dress over and over again each challenge yet he thinks he's designing something unique and original every time. When I see him design these clothes, I keep thinking of the Simpsons episode where Marge bought an "expensive" pink dress at the outlet mall... and then she gets invited to the country club by the snotty women in town... so every time she meets them, she's in the same dress but she keeps cutting it and reconfiguring it just a little differently so they think it's always new.
I keep wondering how long Ricky's going to stay around. He's stayed much longer than he should have. One of the greatest strengths of Project Runway in my opinion is that it's always been fairly accurate in who it chooses to eliminate. I'm mystified as to why Ricky stays week after week when he's continually in the bottom.

I was really happy with this week's challenge - something that finally pushed all the designers and showed who really belongs there. And for once I was in total agreement with the judging. Team "Fierce" had a fantastic avant-garde piece, just stunning, but the win could have gone just as easily to VictorYa's team, who showed Kit what it means to put a punk sensibility into fashion. I was thrilled when Christian and Chris won, though, because I just don't like VictorYa, and I am so happy to see Chris making three fantastic pieces in a row, even if he didn't get the immunity.
I am also happy that Nina finally hit Rami with the "one-note" label. His prom dress was just his first challenge dress cut down and in green, and this week's look was miserable - totally boring and not nearly as exuberant as it should have been. It was still better than Kit's, though, which looked like she was thumbing her nose at the judges, instead of trying to wow them. I was not sorry to see her go, but would have preferred Ricky take the walk, hopefully that will happen soon.
I was even happier to see Kit go after I watched the bonus footage on Bravo's website. They showed Kit, Ricky, Rami and Sweet Pea waiting for their chance to be grilled by the judges, knowing they had the low scores, and Kit complaining about being rated low while, and I'm paraphrasing, "there's a designer on the runway who has already been eliminated." - Oh no she didn't! Don't go after my favorite Chris just because you made a crap dress.
The only problem I had with this challenge was throwing the ready-to-wear-look at them on the second day. All of them were pieces of crap, although the teams led by VictorYa and Christian at least attempted to translate the avant-garde look. If they'd had more time and knew from the beginning that they had to deal with two outfits, I think we would have gotten some stunning pieces.

I'm not ready to write Rami off as "one-note" just yet. ( and no, it's not just because I think he's hot!) I think he's just fallen into a small rut. (His poodle skirt dress was terrific and didn't rely on draping, to my somewhat inexperienced eye.) And I have to admit that If I were a designer who'd won two challenges, I think I'd be a little inclined to rely on what's worked for me in the past. I think Rami's narrow escape from elimination last week had more to do with his inability to work well with his teammate than with his design per se.
I too continually wonder how Ricky manages to hang on. He usually winds up at or near the bottom, hasn't won a challenge yet and is constantly scolded for unfinished garments. (Which is why I was surprised that Kevin decided to leave the hem of his prom dress unifnished. You'd think he would have known better, given Ricky's experience.) I sort of like Ricky - he's kind of appealing - but I don't think he's got the talent or ambition to go much further.
I was sorry to see Kit go this week - I liked her prom dress from two weeks ago a lot more than Victorya's winning dress - but I have to admit that the "avant-garde" outfit she created with Ricky looked like a cross between Scarlett O'Hara and Holly Hobby. Not cutting-edge at all, and far less interesting than Rami's/Sweet P's creation.

I love this show. By far, the best reality show. Having said that, I think that Ricky should have gone a long time ago. The prom dress he created was terrible, and the outfits he made this week with Kit sucked.
Rami has been designing the same dress for the past two weeks. It is always braided on one side of the lapel. He is hot though, and I love his body.
Victorya's coat was amazing. And Christian is extremely talented, and I have been a fan since he made the dress out of Reese's wrappers.

Ricky has had a single decent piece of work- the Hershey's inspired dress was "pretty" but far from the sensational level he needs to do.
I am liking Rami less and less because 1) lack of variety in his work, 2) him winning the Hershey's challenge (clearly several were better- reminded me of Michael's recyclables victory previous season), 3) his inability to work with the vision of others- he gave Jillian trouble about Kevin's timeliness and then basically brushed off Sweet Pea..... I just see him as a pretty boy who knows it- in a bad way. Too high maintenance for me- not worth the time.
I am liking Christian more and more.... although I though his Reese's cup inspired piece was extremely average. It was a simple dress with the cups glued over it... much less creative than the higher quality and creative work of Chris and Jillian.
I think that Ricky should have been sent home over the work of the Kit/Ricky team. Ricky's dress that he was 100% responsible for did not even look like decent quality and it didn't even seem remotely inspired by the A.G. crap they put together. Ricky should be sent home simply for saying his work is beautiful- and that the color of his prom dress was "perfect" for the girl who looked so pasty!!

Now that was a shocking elimination! I thought Victorya had a better chance of winning it all than being eliminated this early. But my god... the judges were 100% correct. It looked exactly like a jeans jacket with a skirt attached. No imagination went into that whatsoever. And Victorya committed the cardinal sin of reality television: she was boring.
And even more shocking was that Ricky won something. I've gotta give him credit... he did a great job with that look. It was the most interesting of the bunch and he needed to come up big or he was in danger. Jillian should've gone home in my opinion... that thing was a mess. And I was pleasantly surprised with Sweet Pea's dress, and boy is she lucky that Tim told her to get rid of the wedding dress idea. A wedding dress made of jeans material? It doesn't get much worse than that.

I'm stunned, absolutely stunned, that VictorYa is out, although I am also thrilled. I could not stand her, and thought she totally screwed Team Ricky over during the challenge with dated fashion trends by not taking the lead and then being passive aggressive the entire time. She made some nice pieces, but didn't seem to have any passion for what she was doing. I was totally amazed at how crappy her piece was, it seemed like it might look better than that when it was on the form.
I was not happy that Ricky won, only because I think he should have been tossed over the prom dress, but he had a great look. Once again PR really proves the "one day you're in, one day you're out" line. At least he does not have immunity, so he could go home next week. Once again SweetPea got robbed. Her dress would have looked like crap as a wedding dress, but was ultra chic as a short one.
I was also happy to see Chris not even in the bottom two, although I understood the complaints about his dress. I don't see him getting to Bryant Park, I can't imagine what he would do for a collection - he does not seem to have a coherant design viewpoint to express, which is generally lacking this year.

I think you're right that he will make an interesting collection, but I couldn't stand what he put down the runway last night. It looked EXACTLY like the look he put together for the formerly fat woman, and no one called him on it.
My guess for the top three - Christian, Rami and Jillian - but I think Sweet Pea will end up as the decoy collection.

Oh lawd this show. My boyfriend said someone needs to take Christian into a back alley and whoop his ass!!!! Can't say I disagree much. Now of course thats not what someone should really do. Let me just clarify that since I'm seen as being "violent". Its just an exaggeration of the fact that he's a cocky, smart ass little punk. However, he's a cocky, smart ass little punk with loads of talent to back it up. But really...his comments and overall demeanor are exactly what many people who already have stereotypes about gay men look at and say "See...look at that. I told you" This show is getting predictable sometimes though in who is going to win a challenge. I knew Ricky was going to win as soon as they made emphasis on Christian's comments that he felt Ricky should've left, and Ricky saying he gets looks that he doesn't deserve to be there. I was like hmmm...foreshadowing much Project Runway?

So I saw that coming. I liked Ricky's dress very much as well as Christian's. I was just glad to see the look on Christian's face when they named Ricky as the winner.

What a snot he is.

I was shocked but pleased to see that Ricky finally won a challenge. Now maybe he'll quit tearing up every episode. (For the record, I've always had a sneaking fondness for Ricky, despite my earlier comments on this thread. I just wish he'd toughen up a bit.)
I liked Sweet P's, Rami's and Ricky's looks the best, and I was pleased that Victorya finally got sent home. I was disappointed that Jillian didn't fare better, but I wasn't surprised -she keeps working right up till the last minute, which can't be good when tight deadlines are part of the challenge.
So far, I'm finding it difficult to single out one front-runner for the top prize - Christian, Rami and SweetP are among my favorites, but that could certainly change. I like Christian's outfits as a whole, but I can't stand his "I'm the most talented and everyone knows it" routine. He's mildly amusing on occasion, but he'd be a lot more likable with a little humility.
I like Chris (aka "Sissybear") the best of the remaining designers as far as his personality goes, but I don't think he's talented enough to last much longer now that the competition is getting more intense.

Ding, dong the witch is dead....!!! Ring the bells and sound the trumpets, the craptacular reign of terror on unsuspecting Project Runway fans from the crying shame that is Ricky is over! And Chris the "Sissybear" (as the Project Rungay guys dubbed him) won! I did not think I could be this happy following the Super Bowl, but thank you, thank you, thank you PR Gods.
I was totally dubious of the WWE challenge - I thought it would be totally uninspiring to the designers and we'd see nothing but a bunch of spangly bathing suits. Instead the women seemed genuinely nice and the designers, at least the good ones, came up with some really fun takes on their characters. I was totally in agreement with the judges on this one - Jillian's little sporty number (which I thought was too short in the back), Christian's leather-and-lace look and Chris' strong Leopard-Woman wear were just fantastic. Poor Rami and Sweet Pea tried, but failed, while Ricky just didn't even try. I knew from the moment Heidi began her "You're out" speech to Ricky and Sweet Pea that Ricky would be out. Heidi basically told Ricky he had totally missed the mark on the challenge, while providing Sweet Pea with a couple of minor criticisms. Yea Heidi!
I am predicting Rami, Christian and Jillian for the final three, and I think Jillian may have a really good chance at a win. We know exactly what we are going to see from the first too - Grecian draping and puffy shoulders, respectively - but Jillian has been really all over the place with her designs.

My predictions:
Winner: Christian- the most "fashion-forward" and fastest worker- most likely to have 20-25 outfits/pieces and will be able to choose 12 into a cohesive vision.
Runner-up: Jillian- the most "commercial"- she will have the prettiest 12-13 looks and all women would want to wear them. She will definitely struggle in finishing her looks because she is a perfectionist and they have been editing that way all season.
Third: Rami- the most "sophisticated", yet the will question if he is really "fashion-forward" enough.... blah blah...
If Chris Marsh is able to also show his looks, he may surprise, although he has struggled a bit with consistency and has a tendency to be "costumey"- but if he can come up with some looks ala "En Garde"- he could be a spoiler.

Well, we'll know tomorrow who ends up showing at Fashion Week. Christian is virtually guaranteed a spot, but the others are kinda open. I am so unenthused by Jillian. She's so bland. Sweet Pea should've been gone a couple of times already if you ask me. Rami started out the season strong but has become boring. Chris Marsh has been a pleasant surprise and I'd like to see what he could come up with as far as a collection at Fashion Week goes.
This season would've been very boring without Christian. Even though he's the youngest, he has -- by far -- the brightest future of them all if you ask me. And I really wish they would've used the actual models more this season rather than all of the guest models they keep using. Overall it's been an interesting year but it's still my least favorite of all the PR seasons.

Thanks for the link, MDG. There are at least 3 very impressive collections there. Of course I don't know if photos tell the real story and they probably look quite a bit different in person, but I'd say I'm most impressed by Jillian, Chris and Christian. My thoughts:
Chris: Love the color and the shading of his fabrics. The art print on the first is risky, but beautiful. Loved the collection, although he did not finish with his strongest look and lacks that final DAMN!! response... My one comment is that I don't know if it is fashion-forward enough. This collection looks like he took inspiration directly from Uli and Laura- a hybrid of their looks.
Jillian: A bit of an equestrian vibe to several of the looks. Some nice, very commercial looks in her group. The black and white stripe top is an eyesore in the middle of her collection. Her last look is beautiful and remniscent of Laura Bennet a bit. I dont care for the odd shoulders in looks 5 or 7 and the element of cutouts in 2 of the other looks takes away from them. Overall, a nice collection.
Sweet P: She showed what she was during the season- unsure of herself but capable of some of the most brilliant work. She needs someone to provide strong feedback- she might be best with a design partner. Plaid looks are simply ugly. Opening look with nice colors, but the silhouette is- not flattering. Using the same color in the next looks were beautiful, the stripes were slimming and gorgeous. Love the gold with gothic like prints dress... her final Audrey Hepburn look is dull.
Rami: I expected more from some of his designs. I expected more sophistication and consistency of his looks. The 9th, 11th and 12 looks are beautiful and brilliant. Absolutely gorgeous and what I expected from him. The last two are especially stunning. The middle grouping of red and black looks- the first made her look huge- the other three are very nice. The first 2 looks in the blue-green shade are okay, not great.
Christian: Too much damn black. I wish he would have used more color in the first looks. Not enough variety in the looks. Look 4 was ready to wear but a throwaway. Looks 2 and 3 were near identical. Poor model in look #7 could not see LOL. The last 2 looks of his are gorgeous. He clearly has the strongest vision and the highest level of work amongst the finalists.
My rankings:
1) Christian
2-4) Chris, Jillian, Rami
5) Sweet P

No problem. I agree with you & Kick about the Top 3 and Sweet Pea being the weakest.
Chris' collection shocked me the most. I didn't think he had it in him to pull off that collection. He had shades of Gaultier with his use of the face print fabric. Love it. Christian's look was very Paris Couture but as Kick mentioned, I thought he used too mcuh black. But then again, with the majority of pieces being black, the non-black creations, especially the final masterpiece, really stood out.
Jillian basically extended the equestrian look, but all of her pieces were nice and very wearable.
I was a Rami fan, but these past few weeks he has really disappointed and except for a couple of pieces, hie collection didn't really "wow" me. I am thinking that there is usually a surprise boot, and I think Rami is this year's surprise. Everyone is expecting him to be Top 3, but he falls short?
I hope Christian wins because there is no denying that he is a talented f*c. Second/third is really close but I would go with Jillian and then a surprising Chris for third.

Having not read the spoiler, here are my thoughts: Surprisingly, Chris' short hiatus from the show seems to have done him good. His work has gotten stronger, I think, and I'm glad and a little surprised to see him in the final 4.Rami's still my favorite, however, and I hope he wins the right to go to Bryant Park.
I was sorry to see Sweet P go; she was my favorite female designer this season and added a lot to the show. However, I have to admit that she didn't do as well in the last two challenges as I had hoped.
I like all the designers this season except for Christian, whose talent is overshadowed (at least in my mind) by his arrogance. But since arrogance seems to be a prerequisite for winning (witness Jeffrey's triumph last season), I have no doubt Christian will wind up with the prize.

Well, there is something to be said for having nothing left to lose. Having been "auf'd" already, Chris may have felt freer to go with his gut - worst case scenario was he'd get "auf'd" again. I think he made a huge mistake going too similar to his avant garde dress (for which Christian got the win - rightly, he was captain - but I think we all know who was the design genius behind that one), but it was clear from the judge's comments that they were very impressed with his dress. He might have gotten Rami completely "auf'd" had he gone with a different design idea, but with the same exuberance.
I have to admit, I am not a Rami fan. He is pretty to look at, certainly, but his own understated arrogance is starting to get to me. I picked him as a one-note from the beginning, and it was sooooo predictable he would go with the Roman/Grecian art inspiration. He knows what he does best, and that is normally a positive for someone in his industry, but the whole idea of PR is to go beyond your comfort zone, and he seems very resistant to doing that. Of course, given the pink monstrosity he created in the WWE challenge (who knew you could make those boobs actually look bigger?), maybe he can't funtion outside his comfort zone
Christian is at least up front with his obnoxiousness. It's actually growing on me. I don't necessarily like his design asthetic, and I think he needs some refinement that age/time will bring, he does have the goods to back up his arrogance. If he didn't he'd be the most hated designer in PR history (but Wendy from Season 1 still holds that distinction). I do think the win is his to lose, but don't count Jillian out. I actually give both Rami and Chris about the same chance to get the official showing at Bryant Park (as we know, all five put together collections for the show), but I think a win is unlikely for either.

I'm willing to concede that Rami is as cocky in his own way as Christian, but at least Rami doesn't spend half the show trashing other competitors' work (unless I missed something in the episodes to date, and I've seen all of them at least twice!) ***Spoiler alert***
Well, Christian has won the title. In fairness, I liked his collection more than I expected, and several of his outfits were genuinely stunning. On occasion, I thought his dresses could have used some editing (like the ruffle/feather extravaganza that closed out his collection, not to mention the black outfit with the ruffly color and the big hat that nearly overwhelmed the model) and a little more color variety. On the whole, however, it was a strong collection that went a long way toward justifying Christian's cockiness.
That said, I still thought Rami's collection was the best overall. He didn't rely excessively on draping, and he had some truly beautiful dresses that were both dramatic and wearable. Prettiness aside, I think Rami's got a long and happy future ahead of him.
Jillian's collection was delightfully feminine yet strong, and she made some terrific looking clothes. But I think her work lacked the drama and cohesiveness of Rami's and Christian's.
I agree with the judges' opinion that all three designers delivered truly outstanding work. It was, overall, the most satisfying PR finale I've seen yet.

Christian certainly deserved to win. His final feather dress was, as Michael Kors said, "phenomenal." The only real surprise for me was that Jillian didn't finish second. I thought her collection was head-and-shoulders above Rami's. Jillian is way more color-conscious than Rami and her collection was the most wearable of the three -- by far. Christian was over-the-top fabulous and his stuff looked extremely high-end. Who wouldn't want Posh Spice to be dying to wear your designs? If I were going to Fashion Week to watch a fashion show, his clothes were the ones I wanted to see. He gets it. Rami -- as Michael again said -- used some colors that were hideous, faded aquas and some really bad off-reds.
I remember Tim Gunn being asked on Out Q months ago before this season began... "what can we look forward to in season four?" And he said then, "We have this up-and-coming, 21-year-old contestant who's the youngest we've ever had in the competition and he will just amaze you with his talent." He was right. I think this year's group of designers was the best ever, and it was actually refreshing to not see all the drama and catfights between them this season. I loved it.

Ok...missed the original finale air date so I just watched the collections of all of the designers (while somehow successfully looking away from what I'm sure is finale discussion as I scrolled all the way down to reply to this topic), and since over the top seems to win on these shows I'm going to go with Christian's even though that haute couture look isn't really my taste. The thing is though that if I'm describing your look as haute couture you did an amazing job that you expect to see from the official haute couture houses. I thought Jillian's and Rami's were more wearable, but listening to the judges now I do agree that Jillian's was more "disjointed", but I really loved some of those outfits paired with the boots. Very NY fashionista and I could see some of my friends wearing any of the designs she put out. Rami's was also nice though there were a couple pieces in there I was like hmmm.
So with that said I'm going to pick Christian's because his overall body of work really was phenomenal. Its not so much about what your personal taste is, but rather the creativity and artistic expression. I mean Christian's was so dramatic and detailed. The ruffles and feathers and fit were simply amazing. So Christian is my pick. 2nd place could go to either Rami or Jillian but I'm going to go with Jillian second and Rami third. Christian is cocky, but he's earned it in my opinion. He backs it up with phenomenal talent.
Edited to add: Well...got it right with the winner, but got it wrong with the order. Although I did say that second place could go to either Jillian or Rami. I just really thought that her collection was slightly better than Rami's. But, all 3 were really spectacular. This was the best finale of them all, and its just ashame that someone had to lose. But kudos to Christian for being consistently spectacular from day one. FIERCE!!!

Project Runway is leaving Bravo! At least according to TV Guide:
QUOTE
Auf wiedersaywhat?! Project Runway producer the Weinstein Co. has inked a five-year deal to move cable's top-rated reality series to Lifetime, where Season 6 would premiere in November.
That is, if Bravo's owner can let go. NBC Universal has filed suit in New York Supreme Court, accusing Weinstein of violating its rights by making the deal with Lifetime. According to the New York Times, the suit claims TWC concluded its deal with Lifetime on Feb. 7, yet continued to negotiate with NBC Universal for two more months. In a statement, NBC said, "NBC Universal has continuing rights related to Project Runway, including a right of first refusal to future cycles of the series, which the Weinstein Company unfortunately has refused to honor."
That said, Runway never was going to remain on Bravo, as Weinstein's deal with NBCU dictated that the show be relocated to a larger network, perhaps either USA Network or NBC proper.
"We believe that this lawsuit is without merit," Weinstein's counsel says in a statement. "[It] is always unfortunate when parties try to win in court what they have lost in the marketplace."

I think Project Runway moving to Lifetime is a huge mistake for the show. I can see the show moving to NBC or a major network, but Lifetime? Uh, no.
By the way, Christian will be a judge on tomorrow night's Miss USA pageant on NBC. That should be a hoot. The network's promos for the Miss USA pageant have been funny. Usually they try to promote pageants by using a serious bent as though the Miss USA title actually means something. But this time, they're advertising it using clips of all the most-talked about mistakes of last year like when the contestant slipped and fell during the evening gown competition, and Miss South Carolina's answer flub: "I personally think that U.S. Americans as some people out there don't have maps, and such as, the Iraq and the South Africa, such as, for the children."
