Just thought I'd throw out here that the WNIT championship game in Laramie for Saturday afternoon has sold 15,000 tickets and is sold out. The 12,000+ for the semi-final game was already a record for Wyoming women's basketball attendance. Should be a good game, but doubt it will be on tv - they never televise WNIT games aside from being picked up locally.

Should also point out that Kansas State sold out Bramlage Coliseum last year for the WNIT title game as well. There really are places that appreciate women's basketball - just wish there were more of them. The NCAA tournament sites have been so sparsely attended this year, it's just embarrassing. Even the regional finals had crickets chirping louder than the fans who showed up were cheering (or so it seemed, anyway).

No doubt the NCAA is hurt by having neutral sites for the main tourney. WNIT has home crowds built in.

Pat Summitt: "I do think it's time to rethink, to look at where we are in the women's game. I supported neutral sites because there were so many people out there that felt like we were ready. Clearly, we're not ready. It's disappointing to see all the empty seats in almost every gym. . . . I would hate to see us go into another postseason and experience what we have this year. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But right now, it appears that it may be broken." Link

Wyoming won the WNIT championship yesterday in Laramie, 72-56, over Wisconsin. I have included an article from ESPN for those who are interested. From what I read, I guess Wyoming was looking for their first ever NCAA invitation after finishing tied for second in the MWC.
