There really are places that appreciate women's basketball - just wish there were more of them. The NCAA tournament sites have been so sparsely attended this year, it's just embarrassing. Even the regional finals had crickets chirping louder than the fans who showed up were cheering (or so it seemed, anyway).
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/news/story?id=2817665No doubt the NCAA is hurt by having neutral sites for the main tourney. WNIT has home crowds built in.
Pat Summitt: "I do think it's time to rethink, to look at where we are in the women's game. I supported neutral sites because there were so many people out there that felt like we were ready. Clearly, we're not ready. It's disappointing to see all the empty seats in almost every gym. . . . I would hate to see us go into another postseason and experience what we have this year. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But right now, it appears that it may be broken."
