I'm not her biggest fan, but this should be the impetus to impeach Cheney and Bush (she's next in line of succession), and make someone who knows how to TALK our president. Now if we could only convince HER of that.

To me, it doesn't matter whether she is wrong or right in doing this...
She stood up for what she believes despite what the Prez told her to do. She is not beholden to him and stood her ground.
I am beginning to highly respect Ms. Pelosi!

Honestly, at this point, someone's got to do something that's constructive and diplomatic...this administration is going to continue the "America gets F*cked" tour as long as they can get away with it....Someone's got to take big bold steps and show the Cheney/Rove/Bush MOB that we just can't take it anymore...

Exactly. But THREE US REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMEN were just in Syria a few days ago meeting with Bashar Assad, and Bush didn't say a peep! In fact
it appears the White House gave them its blessing! Did Bush, Perino or any of the other liars on his gang's staff say a word about these two Republican Congressmen??? I mean, do they think EVERYONE IN THE US IS STUPID? What is wrong with them?
This White House lies and manufactures fake outrage so much that it's beyond tiresome!

It's beyond tiresome, truly. It's tedious now. Nancy Pelosi is taking bold initiative and following one of the recommendations that Bush's own Iraq Study Group had wanted. Now, how is that such an act of evil? I think it's great that she is taking such bold initiative to do what it is that she is doing there in Syria, taking the first steps toward re-establishing diplomacy. Has not W and his ilk heard the axiom "You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar."?

I'm not a keen Pelosi fan either, but I'm glad that she had the courage to defy Dubya and make the Syrian trip. We must talk to the 'enemy' before peace can be achieved.
Nancy's initiative to Syria or not, and with the President's scolding, was very curious to me. If the President really, really didn't want Nancy to go to Syria, he could have prevented her. He did not.
Thoughts?

Pelosi for secretary of state in the next administration

It doesn't seem to me that the Democratic Party is rallying to support her in the face of a right wing blitz against her.

I think that the silence of the Democrats in this case may actually show strength behind their support of the Madame Speaker.
It may actually be smart- nothing to defend, nothing to get worked up about.
I just love that the Republicans got all worked up about it.... but no mention of their own party that also went to Syria as well.

People, people, this brouhaha has Karl Rove's fingers all over it. Come on, now! 3 Republicans Congressmen went to Syria JUST DAYS before Pelosi and met with Assad, and there was no White House outcry.
Right-wing Congressman Darrell Issa (the weepy nut behind the recall of Gray Davis, don't forget) went to Syria and met with Assad RIGHT AFTER Pelosi, and there was no White House outcry.
The President, John Boehner (who went to China with Newt Gingrich in 1997, in order to embarass Clinton), Dick Cheney, etc., all attacked this Pelosi, who has high favorability ratings, and their lackeys in the "left wing" media, along with Faux, their propaganda outlet, fell right in.
But what did this brouhaha drain attention away from?
The ongoing disaster in Iraq. AG-gate and Abu Gonzales's looming testimony. The fact that the White House doesn't NOT want Karl Rove and Harriet Miers to testify under oath, WITH a transcript. Kyle Sampson's damning testimony and Monica Goodling's pleading the fifth. The ongoing Abramoff scandal (yep, that's not over). The Supreme Court's ruling against Bush's EPA. The Democratic Congress's exploration of Rove & Co.'s use of RNC email to avoid scrutiny. Valerie Plame's damning testimony, which the press has tried to bury or con us into forgetting. The Libby guilty verdict. The vanished $8 billion in Iraq. Bush's failed visit to Latin America. And on and on.
Let's not forget the FOREST for Rove-manufactured tree-lighting displays. This administration is not just sinking, it's become quicksand for anyone near it. They will keep attacking Pelosi, Kerry, anyone they can. But just keep in mind who's created the disasters that are plaguing them. THEM. No one else.

That's a new one to me. Care to expand on that?
