I just heard this on CNN. Representative Dennis Kucinich is preparing to draft articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney. This is going to be awfully interesting! blink.gif

Rep. Kucinich is one of the few politicans who deserve to be admired. The establishment news media of CNN and the like totally ignore him or treat him as a fringe candidate. His impeachment idea concerning Cheney is something that needed to be done. Of course few in the democratic party will have the chutzpah or balls to vote for the impeachment of Cheney. Still I'm glad it is being done as a message.

Look impeaching Bush and/or Cheney would be great. These bastards deserve whatever they get. But the Democrats could be making a big mistake if they turn the next year and a half conducting more and more hearings on the failings of the Bush administration. We've had Scooter Libby and now we've got the Gonzalez investigation, the Tillman investigation, the potential Rove investigation and others. They are going to turn off a whole lot of potential swing voters that they may need to seize the White House. They need to implemnet some of their plans they promised when we gave them control of Congress and move this country forward.

The fact is that the Democrats are implementing legislation; in addition to their first 100 days legislation, the Democratic-controlled House has repeatedly passed legislation, with small Republican support, that the American people have said they want, but a number of bills have been blocked in the Democratic-controlled Senate, mainly by the Republican leadership. So the Democrats *are* passing legislation that they said they would, or at least trying, but much of it faces procedural bottlenecks in the Senate (and remember that that Senate Republicans threatened to destroy filibuster power, which would have meant that now, they'd have ZERO power against the Democrats), and potential vetoes by President W.

In terms of the investigations, the Congress is REQUIRED BY THE CONSTITUTION to provide oversight of the government as well as pass laws. There has been zero oversight for most of the last six years. So it's finally happening. Today we learned that one of the two of the Republican Congresspeople who was raided in the last two weeks, Rick Renzi, was under investigation by his state's US Attorney, Paul Charlton, but after Renzi's assistant called Charlton, who was later canned, Alberto Gonzales's Department of Justice delayed the investigation until AFTER the November 2006 elections, in which Renzi was re-elected. Now he's had to leave several committees, like Republican John Doolittle, and it appears that both are tied to various crimes. Jack Abramoff's name keeps popping up again, and more Republicans appear to be in trouble. Had the Congress been doing its job, we might not have had to wait for all of this come to light in this small two-year window, but the GOP was intent upon protecting its own members and on protecting Bush. I mean, they wouldn't even investigate a pedophile in their midst until an anonymous blogger burst the story open like an infected boil, and they were still lying up to the very last minute about Mark Foley....

No matter how much I cannot stand the VP or Prez, I think it is best to just leave them in place with little House or Senate interference.

If the VP is impeached- then a replacement will be named. It will give that individual more name recognition and experience in the White House for the Republicans- and an advantage in the 2008 election. I think we should hope everything stays status quo for now- unless we want a stronger fight in the next Prez election.

All the credible pols in the world who want the job of working under Bush in this administration, please step forward. blink.gif

I didn't think so.

Impeachment really isn't a credible likelihood. But the attempt is what would be important. Threatening to return law and order to the White House is a principle worth maintaining IMO.

And remember 3000+ USA military deaths, unnecessarily caused by this bunch. Impeachment would be too kind.
