Now we have even the former head of the CIA, George Tenet, stating that the intelligence was never a "slam dunk", as indicated by VP Dick Cheney. It's true that he stayed silent when he should have spoken, but at least he is now telling all with his new book.

I think it's amazing how the rats are jumping ship, especially with the resulting ceaseless violence in Iraq. The only one we need to reverse course is our Imperious Leader, W.

Real helpful, Tenet, now you tell us! What a load of crapola. Is he giving back his Medal of Freedom? I haven't read anything about that yet.

IMPEACHMENT is increasingly looking like the only appropriate action. Why wait until November 2008? They've already flushed this country down the toilet!

Tenet states that everyone was shocked when Cheney came out with his definitive statement about Saddam having WMD's...it was a clear lie. Cheney's been working for Halliburton the whole time, not the American people. If anyone's a war criminal, it's Cheney. As far as I'm concerned, Cheney and Rove are the two most despicable, corrupt politicians America has ever known. They belong in jail.

Watching Tenet's interviews I can only pity him. He almost seems in tears describing how betrayed he feels. But self-pity is not enough at this point.

As former head of the CIA he must understand the essential fault in an agency that has a near-limitless black hole of a budget and unfettered ability to perform its work in secrecy without effective oversight.

It is not his personal ego that he should be concerned about but promoting the conversion that agency into an open information-gathering body that gives the real power in this country the information it needs to make its most important informed decision.

That power is the voting public that elects the most powerful leader in the world: the USA voting plurality.

We need to know the truth or we can never make USA democracy the "lesser of all evils" it has so proudly been proclaimed to be.

I remember when Tenet left his position, citing family reasons. I didn't buy 'family reasons' at all. He is just promoting his book. He was wholeheartedly for this war. When I heard Bush give the speach about ' uranium in Niger, I knew this was a pack of lies. This war in Iraq is ever bit as hideous as the Vietnam war.

Dick Cheney may have been behind the Niger yellow cake uranium forgeries according to former CIA agent Ray McGovern who co-founded and is active in Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS).

With some of this stuff coming out, it makes me wonder just how in-the-loop George Tenet was as a civilian in charge of such a parochial organization, where lying and betrayal can be the coin of the realm.
