I'm quite disappointed that no one started this thread while I was away. Do I have to do everything myself?

Anyhoo...here are my predictions for this round:
Buffalo over Ottawa in 7 games (despite Ottawa's win last night)
Anaheim over Detroit in 6 games
I got 3 of 4 picks in the last round, making me 11-1 overall. Yikes.

I think you might end up at 11 and 3.

These overtime games are killing me! Anaheim's 3rd goal should not have been allowed!

Hasek didn't have control of it. It was stuck in his equipment and popped out when he fell into the net. He and the puck were both clearly over the line, and it all occurred well before the official blew the whistle. There's no reason it wasn't a goal.
The disallowed goal that should have counted was Buffalo's last night. It went off the player's glove and into the net, but the glove was wrapped around the stick. It's not like he waved his hand and batted it into the net. That's a rule that needs to be changed, in my opinion.

You mean when he was "knocked" into the net?!

What is up with Buffalo? I thought they learned a lesson last year's loss and would come out with guns blazing, but so far haven't shown much.
No time like the present to get it together, one more loss and their out.

Just 15 shots in game 3. I'm wondering what happened to the Buffalo team that skates up and down like crazy and pumps in goal after goal after goal...I guess they're wondering that themselves...

And with Detroit's destruction of Anaheim to go up 2 games to 1, I'm now thinking I'm going 0-2 in my predictions in this round.

Oh yeah! 5-0!
GO RED WINGS!!!!!!!! BTW,the Ducks are playing about as dirty as I've ever seen a team play, which makes this victory all the more sweeter!

Not the most impressive win for the Sabres (nearly giving up a 3-0 lead) but they have to start somewhere.

The Ottawa Senators advance to their first Stanley Cup final with a 3-2 overtime win at Buffalo, to take the series in 5 games. All 3 of the Senators' series this year have ended in five games. They await the Detroit-Anaheim winner.
Meanwhile, despite the fact that the Preakness was still over an hour away from starting, NBC dumped the game (except in Buffalo) at the end of regulation to begin its Preakness coverage. The overtime ended up not on one of the NBC-owned cable networks (USA, Bravo, MSNBC, CNBC) but on none other than Versus. If you needed any further proof that, despite the greatness of the sport itself, the National Hockey League is a complete joke...

My prediction of Anaheim might come true after all. After that 5-0 Detroit rout in game three I wasn't sure the Ducks would be able to get back into the series. And they haven't played that well, but have managed to win anyway.
If I had to choose today, and fortunately I don't, my thought right now is that I'd lean towards Anaheim over Ottawa but Ottawa over Detroit in the finals.

That was a great series between the Ducks and Wings, never a dull moment including game 6 at the Pond. Ducks controlled most of the play until the refs come to teh aid of Detroit yet again to make it interesting and give all of us Ducks fans high blood pressure or a heart attack.
One thing this series has produced is the officiating in these playoffs is lacking and not a single ref still in action deserves to call the SCF. I've never seen so many phantom calls get called and legit penalties go, including tonight. Ducks getting tripped, pulled down and no calls. 3rd period rolls around and the refs display their usual Wings favoritism and call everything but Detroits penalties. How many 5 on 3's did Detroit get this series?
On to face Ottawa which should be another great series between both clubs each searching for their first stanley cup win. I'll be at my usual seat for game 1 rooting on my boys to bring home the Cup to its rightful place.

I forgot to mention...Chelios did his usual unsportmanship conduct and failed to shake hands tonight. If that guy isn't the biggest joke around the NHL he should be. Be a man and congratulate the teams that beat you not the sissy girl you become when you lose.
Go Ducks!

Congrats to Anaheim for an overwhelming victory.I'm extremely disappointed in the Wings especially because of the way they let Sunday's game slip away.I think Bertuzzi needs to call it a day.Watching him skate would make you think he's skating through mud!Slooooow!
I disagree with Todd's previous post about the refs and I still believe that Anaheim is one of the dirtiest playing teams I've seen in a long time and I've been watching hockey since the days of the "Broad Street Bullies" Either way the Ducks, for the most part, outplayed the Wings.
