Hey, guys. Just wanted to find out if any other Outsports locals (or others who're gonna be in SF for Pride) are planning on hitting any of the games or tournament-related activities. Perhaps we should hook up and watch large-thighed, sweaty men bumpin' into one another. Wadda ya say?
gmginsfo
As a former rugby player, I definitely plan on being there and look forward to meeting any and all Outsporters at the Polo Fields. And I promise: no political polemics or proselytizing!
SFHoya
I'm definitely up for attending some of the games and post pitch activities. Lets see if we can't get together a bunch of us Outsporters to cheer on the Fog.
billsf
Well, I guess I'm game. Where can I get the schedule and locations of games? I just hope it doesn't conflict with the SF Giants schedule.

Not really a follower of Rugby but i would be up for maybe catching a game with the outsports fellas -- let me know what is up and i will try to plan around it.

as a member of the Washington Renegades, I encourage anyone in the Bay area to attend the matches...its a great sport, the guys are friendly (and hot), and of course, the more fans the better. and bring some money to buy merchandise!!! all the clubs depend on donations to support their efforts...

I'll definitely be out for some of the games on Friday & my partner John & I will both be out on Saturday (Hey, my own personal weakness -- when are the matches with the team from NZ?). Anybody out there have the actual schedule of matches? Hey, at no charge the price is sure right & if ya go for hot men, it's pretty hard to go wrong with ruggers. Perhaps as the day approaches, we can fire off some e-mails back & forth to figure out who's gonna be out at the pitch when.

Here's a link to the IGRAB page with a lot more info about the Tourney & related events.

A possible idea is to meet up at a local little restaurant for breakfast then head on over after that to watch the matches. If anyone is familiar with the area feel free to throw out some suggestions for places to meet up.

Hope you all have a great time. It should be a terrific event. Really wish I were heading to the west coast! Have fun!

All right, in response to sparty's suggestion. The pitch is in Golden Gate Park, not too far from the Buffalo Paddock. So maybe we could meet for breakfast on Saturday at either the Beach Chalet, the Cliff House, or at Louis' overlooking the Sutro Baths. All on the beach, not too far from the western entrance to the Park. If anybody's interested, try getting back to me at steven@kaliyuga.com. I know the games start at 9am on Saturday. Beach Chalet starts serving breakfast at 8:30 on weekends, Cliff House at 9. Not sure about Louis', but I'll check it out tomorrow morning. Still trying to find out what the exact schedule of matches is. Hey, I'd LOVE to make this happen. Hope the games get BIG crowds -- it'd sure be nice to get a groundswell goin' for rugby locally! Lemme know.

Tickets are still available - at $60 a pop - for the 3 hour HOSTED BAR Bay Cruise on 6-27-01 as part of SF Fog's Welcoming Party. This is a great deal for the price and the Fog are certainly worthy recipients of your "bucks," monetary and manly. There'll be a buffet, silent auction and best of all a great way to see SF from an excellent vantage point - the Bay! The boat leaves from South Beach Marina at 6:30, behind the scoreboard at PacBell Park. This will be a great way to meet up and support a great team of truly unique guys. I'll be there - and I hope you will too!

Any news here guys -- i haven't emailed because i am a slacker but if anything has been decided let us all know and i will be there.

Don't forget tonite's welcome party at the Eagle in SF, starting at 7. It's only a block away from the Lone Star, which is only a block away from the Stud, where it's oldies - which now means 80's - and "cheap beer night," a longtime Stud tradition. Guess where I'll be after 8? BART/MUNI station: Civic Center.

Unfortunately i can not make it tonight, have a friends b-day party to attend from 6:30 on but this weekend i will be out watching some rugby so if anyone is serious about meetin up either email me or PM me -- hope to see you guys this weekend.

In case anybody's interested in hooking up, my partner John & I are gonna do breakfast at 8am at Louis' Restaurant on Saturday before the games. It's on Point Lobos, just up the street from Cliff House overlooking the old Sutro Baths site. I'll be the one in the dark grey T-shirt from the Varsity Restaurant in Atlanta, GA ("What'll Ya Have?"). If not, hope we'll see ya pitch-side that day. Take it easy.

Will be there in my green michigan state shirt and white block S hat. look for me at louis' around 8:15ish. see you on saturday.

Just returned from the morning games (right before the sun finally broke thru the fog). AWESOME. If you are ANYWHERE within driving distance of SF, ya gotta be there tomorrow. Beer, sandwiches & merchandise are available on site. And the men themselves are freakin' incredible. I am so glad this event is happening.

Also, a heads up for anybody who might be thinking about joining us at Louis' for breakfast tomorrow morning (around 8:15) before heading over to the Park. The menu's VERY reasonable, but no credit cards are accepted -- CASH ONLY. Be prepared. See ya?

I'll be there with my heels on!! oops i mean my baseball cap on!! Looking forward to meeting some fellow Outsportsters!!!!!

Oh man oh man oh man. Just got back from the tournament! ABSOLUTELY GREAT -- what a terrific day. For any of you locals who missed it, my condolences. Had breakfast with sparty & his boyfriend, arrived right at opening kickoff (around 9:30am) and stayed till the bitter end. Fried to a crisp -- the weather couldn't have been more perfect. Ran into gmginsfo in his Outsports tank-top. And SO many hot guys, both on the pitch and in the stands. I was particularly enamored of Manchester's fly half and the hook for the team from NY (who ended the game strapped to a back board and being carted away in an ambulance. Reappeared later with a brace on his lower left leg and a BIG ol' icepack strapped to the back of his big ol' neck). The Cup went, thankfully, to the SF FOG, 2nd place to the King's Cross Steelers from London, 3rd to the Village Spartans from Manchester. Mark's mom was there to make the presentation. Lotsa sun, lotsa Guinness, lotsa cameraderie. What a great sport! Wish y'all coulda been there. Whoooooo! Now it's off to the Symphony to hear MLADA.

A special thank you to Patterson and his partner for entertaining myself and my man for the morning session. We had a great time and learned quite a bit about the good ole game of Rugby. Unfortunately we couldn't hang around all day due to other errands but got to watch 3 matches and we had a blast. Missed gmginsfo this time but all in all a great way to spend a saturday morning!
gmginsfo
Sparty, Sorry we didn't connect at the Polo Fields, but if you ever want to get a euchre game up ... Actually, Patterson and his partner and I live within two blocks of each other, and the same distance of the 16th & Mission BART station, so if I ever get this hell hole of a house cleaned up so BillSF can help me install my new CD changer, c'mon over and we'll "get up a game!"

I even promise not to talk politics - for a while!
