Anybody see the cover of the latest Men's Fitness magazine? Andy Roddick is on the cover and apparently they photoshopped Hulk Hogan's arms onto him.

I noticed that, it's not a bad look or anything but obviously not very believable.

Roddick is apparently very good natured about it saying "Maybe Rafael Nadal wants his guns back".

BWAHAHAHAH!!! That is so photoshopped its beyond absurd. Roddick has chicken arms. He's even said its the reason he doesn't wear sleeveless shirts. I can't believe they aren't more developed. He's tall and has some meat on him but those arms are like

I'm surprised the magazine is allowed to do that.

And what does this say about "Men's Fitness?" Andy Roddick is a professional athlete and is clearly "fit," yet not fit enough to be put on the cover without some photoshopping. It seems the magazine promotes only one kind of fitness (the buff, bulky, beefy kind), despite the fact that many fit people (triathletes, for example), are actually quite slim. Near where I work I keep seeing these Amex posters featuring Andy Roddick and I noticed what hairy legs he has. But you wouldn't know from the Men's Fitness article. I suppose, like women's fashion magazines, these fitness rags only promote one kind of 'fitness.'

It's actually kind of fraudulent. But magazines get away with it all the time. Remember Time (or was it Newsweek?0 darkening OJ's skin?
As for Men's Fitness, Canmark hits the nail on the head. I am in very good shape though I am evry lean (though some would call it skinny). It is geared towards those body-shaving big muscled guys and those who delusionally believe anyone can be like that. Sadly too many dopes get sucked in by the con.

About a year ago I saw a clip on the web that showed a fast speed take of a photo shoot and the subsequent photoshopping of a woman's face. She starts off plain - pretty, but not supermodel/advert looking. There's the hair, makeup, etc. Then after the shoot they show the photoshoppipng. It included things like lengthening her neck and increasing the size of her eyes.

Roddick has publicly stated the cover is fake. He didn't see it until he was walking through the airport in Europe. He had a good sense of humor about it and mentioned how the birthmark on his right arm disappeared.
Meanwhile, that was apparently the last issue for the editor. I'm not sure if the next editor will be able to create more credible covers.
Incidentally, i got all my info from
Lynnlovestennis' site. It's tough to catch any tennis news before they do.

Flatterer.
We aim to please.
Actually, I should give a big shout out to my buddy Kenneth Walsh who let me know about the editor-in-chief leaving. He works at the NYT, and has a fab blog called
Kennethinthe212. Every day he does a feature on hot bods, many of whom are jocks. You guys might like it.

He unearthed
this hilarious photochop homage to Mr. Roddick...

Who is the main target audience of "Men's Fitness" ? Straight guys?

Actually we were just discussing that in
another thread, in which Jim said

I don't mind (Men's Fitness) trying to play up to their non-gay readership but they totally ignore the fact that they have gay readers at all, yet there is no doubt that gay men make up a significant % of their readershp.
Given their denial on the subject, it's doubtful they've ever released the figures.
Besides, straight guys admire each other's guns all the time.

And lats, and delts, and glutes...

Thats why they feature good looking male celebrities on their covers all the time. There sex related articles are strictly heterosexual.

Yep, "Men's Fitness" is as straight as "GQ."

Do they have testing for steroids in the ATP or the USTA or the WTA or any of the other professional tennis player associations?
