What's amazing is that the city council STILL has not given the new lease a vote. The sports authority has and it passed... the mayor is obviously in favor it... for goodness sakes, just vote on the thing... oh well, typical government.

But I just read back through this, and I'm still in disbelief. We truly were THIS close to not having the Predators in Nashville any longer.

5. Home-ice advantage? We have been in Nashville for a home playoff game and, trust us, the Sommet Center can rock. But no discussion of the Predators and the playoffs would be complete without acknowledging that fan support continues to be an ongoing issue even with local ownership nullifying the threat of relocation for the time being. Local media outlets reported the Preds averaged just 13,145 in paid attendance through the team's first 36 home games. Two seasons ago, home playoff games did not sell out in a timely fashion and the team threatened to black out games on local television. Nothing would do more for the team and its future than to see the home barn filled for its dates against the Red Wings. If the Preds can't sell out, it will only reinforce what many believe -- that the Predators are living on borrowed time in Nashville.

Screw Burnside. He has something against Nashville, and it's shown all year. He neglects the fact that attendance has only increased since new ownership has taken over, including sellouts at I believe 5 of the last 6 home games... something like that.

And it was Steve Violetta who stupidly threatened the blackouts... what's he doing now? Helping Detroit not sell out many games either. I'm going to laugh if our home games our sold out and Detroit's are not (granted, the economy in Michigan is in even bigger shambles than the country as a whole).

So again... screw you Burnside.
