Be careful walking around the woods in the South... you might come across a 1,000 pound pig.

Boy, 11, Bags Hog Bigger Than 'Hogzilla'

QUOTE
An 11-year-old boy used a pistol to kill a wild hog his father says weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9 feet 4, from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail.

If the claims are accurate, Jamison Stone's trophy boar would be bigger than Hogzilla, the famed wild hog that grew to seemingly mythical proportions after being killed in south Georgia in 2004.

Hogzilla originally was thought to weigh 1,000 pounds and measure 12 feet long. National Geographic experts who unearthed its remains believe the animal actually weighed about 800 pounds and was 8 feet long.

Why is it I've never heard of huge, monster pigs roaming the woods down south until just recently? Is this some southern secret? blink.gif

You've obviously never been to all you can eat buffets like Morrison's Cafeteria in Florida or Georgia.

Or spent time at the Southern Baptist Convention!

How cruel to kill this wild animal. I just hope the animal didn't suffer.

I normally am a softie, but when I used to visit my parents in Florida, my father used to
drag me to the ranches near their house, as he was friends with the local ranchers.
I've seen what damage these wild hogs can do. The tuskers gore cattle and leave them
to bleed to death. Their temperament is truly evil.
These are NOT your friendly barnyard pigs. They are nasty tempered, stupid as a rock,
foul smelling, uneatable, and a blight to a lot of farmers due to the damage they cause.

And when they're that big, very little will keep them out of your fields or yard if they want
to come in.

Basically, they attack everything and anything that moves.

And if I saw one that size, I'd shoot the bugger, and then clean my pants.

Soon will see this on the sci-fi channel " Night of the Giant Hog"

Soemthing about this story doesn't ring true to me. The picture looks a bit fake, but more it's the idea that an 11 year old armed with a pistol could bring down this huge animal.

I thought the same thing. I wonder if it has popped up on snopes.com? (Edited to add...yup...it looks like it is true, to a degree...)

Sorry, I was looking for the story on Rosie and saw this thread title. My bad.

Well it turns out it was not a wild pig after all. The pig even had a name, Fred. The pig wass sold to a hunting farm and that's where it was killed.

Not exactly 'hunting' then. More like 'harvesting'.

Daddy must be proud he's made his 11 year-old son the butt of jokes.
