Full Version: Kobe Bryant wants to be traded

He says there's nothing the Lakers can do to change his mind.

I'm beginning to think that we need to put Kobe in the pantheon of Sports Drama Queens along with Roger Clemens and Brett Favre.

There must be a God somewhere. smile.gif
I haven't been able to root for my Lakers
for 3 years because of my disgust with Bryant.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Only in L.A.! Kobe proves to his critics that he is unworthy of the accolades lauded upon him. I'm glad he has. I have never liked that pompous, self-righteous ass! He only proves that he can be a bigger drama queen than Lindsey or Britney.

Drama queen? Yes. But, the boy can play some ball. That cannot be denied.

You know, for three years we've heard Shaq say he believes that Kobe was responsible for his exile from LA. But now Shaq says he believes Kobe that it was all Jerry Buss.

And yes Kobe can play ball, just like the aforementioned Clemens and favre. But like them, I wish he would just stop talking already.

What I am curious about is why the Lakers won't part with Andrew Bynum (certainly a work in progress) in order to try and win now. Any trade they are offered they refuse because Bynum is part of the package.

I for one would be glad to see him go. After the fiasco w/ Shaq leaving & Phil Jackson temporarily departing, plus his Colorado incident, made me halt my support for the organization until he was traded/let go. I also think that he's a prime ie as to why high school kids need to go to college b4 playing pro ball. Kobe to this day has never learned what the concept of playing on a team means. Is he a great player?, absolutely! Unfortunately, his behavior both on & off the court simply screams, "Spoiled rotten whiny brat!" mad.gif
mdterp01
A brat he definitely is. Kobe is a "Main Line" Pa brat who definitely does think his shit doesn't stink. He surely could've handled the situation better. Stephen A. Smith and Mike Wilbon were discussing the situation during NBA playoff pregame earlier. Wilbon basically said Kobe was wrong because the Lakers stood by him during the Colorado incident. Smith said lets not pretend the Lakers did it for anybody but themselves because where would they be without Kobe. Wilbon said regardless of the incident, they did it. So I mean yes...the situation surely could've been handled better. Personally, the Colorado incident doesn't even matter to me because its none of my damn business what happened. This backpeddling, however, is only making him look like a bigger moron. But Kobe is used to getting what he wants and is going about this the wrong way. He has a right to express his opinion about management but he should do it behind closed doors in a private meeting. What are the Lakers going to do about this? Nothing. Because again...Kobe is their best player.

So where on earth is he gonna find a stage bigger than LA? New York maybe? The Nets. Talk is a Dallas trade with Nowitski going to Hollywood.

Who can afford him?

Shaq has apparently decided he can get more mileage out of blaming Buss now than Kobe. Anyone to blame but himself. So, really, Shaq has quite a lot in common with Kobe.

Kobe is completely justified in his complaints about the Lakers and Kupchak, but as usual goes about it in completely the wrong way. His judgment is as bad as his skills are great.

George, the Lakers wouldn't give up Bynum for Jason Kidd because Jim Buss is too invested in having drafted Bynum to be susceptible to reason. Bynum's trade value is lower now than it was at mid-season (when they reportedly could have had Kidd for him and spare parts).

The above link has been updated since he now says he DOESN'T want to be traded. I'm telling you: Drama Queen.

Call Shaq what you will but he won another ring and if Wade wasn't hurt in '05 he would have won two in a row.
So the only thing I blame Shaq for is bringing Pat Riley another ring and the city of Miami an awesome party. Kobe is a great player but to me that's not what makes me a fan. I didn't like Shaq when he first came to the Lakers because he talked too much. I learned to like his personality and his game. He's a family man and helped police nab a gay basher: http://gaylife.about.com/b/a/202733.htm

Kobe as I've said before is just selfish. Do I think he is a rapist? Yes. But that only points to my feeling that he is a selfish inconsiderate my way or the highway person on the basketball court. I can't stand the whining and the elbows and the pouting and the annoying look on his face all of the time. The interviews when his voice cracks when he is upset because he didn't get a call...he needs a good punch in the mouth. Get arrested for rape? Tell the police that Shaq had an extramarital affair and paid the woman off. Kobe has never had the two things that would make people flock to him - humility and anger management. I hate watching him play.

Shaq and Kobe have "made up." Alliances change so it's not a surprise to me to hear Shaq speak up for Kobe. At the same time according to Kobe Buss didn't want to pay Shaq and there was nothing Kobe could do about it. But if Kobe said, keep Shaq and Phil or I'm walking, do you really think that Buss would have allowed that to happen and be forever known as the man who allowed Kobe to walk away aka Michael Jordan during the keep Phil Jackson/Scottie Pippen/Dennis Rodman Chicago implosion? Yeah sure. And it's just happenstance that Kobe signs for a max contract with the only no trade clause in the NBA...right.

Long Live Shaquille.

He is now telling the LA Times he DOES want to be traded. Drama Queen with a capital Q.

I just got off the phone with Kobe and he's asked to be traded from this thread to the Monster Pig thread. Talk about nerve!

Kobe now says he was misquoted. In various subsequent interviews he said that he never asked to be TRADED but that he aksed to be aided, braided, paraded, serenaded, fellated and paided (I guess his grammar wasn't so good in that interview). He also claims he never said he did NOT want to be TRADED, rather that he does not wanted to be baited, graded, hated and raided.

Color me jaded. rolleyes.gif

Oooh a sports owner who lied! What is the world coming to?

Bryant is a smart guy. And he probably has an even smarter agent. Smells like both are playing us like a violin.

His agent wants money. Bryant wants to be loved (but attention will make a fine substitute). And the NBA needs controversy. Negative pub will do just fine: flops, scraps, gambling, you name it; anything but an active openly gay player.

But eventually even that will fill the bill, and the seats, maybe...

And now Kobe has apparently asked again to be traded!

And today there will be a video made of Kobe ranting against the Lakers, Mitch Kupchak and Andrew Bynum that a couple of guys made in a mall parking lot. Don't know the website but they will be charging $1.99 to view the 24 second rant.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2909549

Reports I've read say that the Lakers have known about this video for a few weeks and that the guys who made it approached the Lakers about buying it to keep it out of the public (some are referring to it as blackmail). But maybe the Lakers didn't buy it so that these guys would release it, thereby turning public sentiment against Kobe in order to justify trading him.
SCTrojan
The Lakers need to get rid of his a** & just say, "Buh-bye! See ya wouldn't want to be ya!" dry.gif

A review of the video from an SI.com writer:

QUOTE
"Andrew Bynum? What the f---?" Bryant says in disgust. "Are you kidding me? Andrew Bynum? F---ing ship his ass out. Are you kidding me? We're talking about Jason Kidd. But they didn't even want to do that. Now we're here in this f---ed up position."

The tandem then asked Bryant what he thought about Bynum's potential. Bryant smiled and started to shake his head as if he was about to go on another tirade.

"You know what man? Let me tell you something. Mitch Kupchak had the nerve to ask me..."

At this point the 24-second video clip ends abruptly and we are left to wonder what Bryant says next. "The Kobe Video Guys" say that Bryant went on to say, "How good do you think Andrew Bynum is going to be in 10 years? Are you f---ing kidding me? I'm trying to win this s--- now."

A week later the duo again ran into Bryant in Newport Beach, after he had made his trade demands public, and pulled out a cell phone and recorded one of them telling Bryant, "Please tell us you're staying." Bryant responded by saying, "Get a Bulls uniform fellas."

As I walked out of the bookstore after watching and listening to the combined 30 seconds of footage, I had the same response most probably had after watching Kim Kardashian or Paris Hilton and their far more tantalizing forays into voyeurism.

"That's it?"

Kobe has alienated Lakers fans. Duh, you think! rolleyes.gif mad.gif

This article reflects my earlier post & sees him for what he is. Again, I was a Lakers fan all of my life, but since the Shaq & Phil Jackson fiasco, I have stopped supporting the team until they get rid of him. I hope he leaves.

This is too funny (it's in today's LA Times):

QUOTE
Kobe, Kobe, Kobe

Summer is officially here and Kobe Bryant is still a Laker. Times blogger Christine Daniels offered some ideas about what might come next as Bryant tries to slash-and-burn his way out of town:

"Plan B: Seen stomping all over a Magic Johnson replica jersey outside the Champs Sports shop at the Santa Ana Main Place mall.

"Plan C: Goes on Barcelona TV and curses out Andrew Bynum in Spanish, getting all the regional nuances and inflections just right.

"Plan D: After performing a hip-hop number on Saturday Night Live, holds up an 8-by-10 glossy of Jerry West and tears it into pieces.

"Plan E: Is videotaped buying staples at Office Depot instead of at Staples."
