Playing for the Texas Rangers after a year out of baseball, Sosa became the fifth member of the 600-homer club Wednesday night when he connected against his former team, the Cubs.

Congratulations Sammy!!!

The other members are Aaron, Ruth, Mays, and Bonds. Distinguished company!

Hmmm, I would question Bonds being defined as "distinguished company." Just sayin. wink.gif

I thought all you Bonds Haters condemned all '90s-00s sluggers who "got big" as equally guilty? No? Because Sammy smiles for your favorite ESPN minstrel shows?

I bet his English was alot better in the post game news conference than it was at the Congressional hearing. rolleyes.gif

Bonds and Sosa don't fit the "distinguished" category.

Ok - So I am not happy about it either - but it is done.

No one is more anti-steroid or performance enhancer's, or has reason to be, than I am.

Any way you look at it, it is still an incredible achievement.

Well no not really. If they cheated it's not a very remarkable accomplishment at all. Rosie Ruiz won the Boston Marathon. Pretty remarkable except she rode the subway for about 25 miles of the race.

Congrats to Sammy! I use to make a road trip every year to see a game at Wrigley because my sister had connections and could get me 4 very good seats. I swear that Sammy hit a homerun in every game that I was at. My friends use to joke that the Cubs should give me seasons tickets because then Sammy would have 81 homeruns a year from the home games that I would attend. I even went to the games here (Detroit) when the Cubs were in town and Sammy would hit one. The first time the Cubs came to CoAmerica park for a weekend series, Sammy did not do too much on the Friday and Saturday night games, but blasted a homerun in the Sunday game, which I was there! I will always be a Sammy Sosa fan.

Congratulations, Sammy Sosa! I love that he reached this mark at Wrigley. They had no love for Smiling Sammy, even going so far as to smash his boombox! I guess he gets the last laugh.

Poor Cubs. Bad karma = misery since 1908.

Oh, and he's never tested positive for steroids or been conclusively linked to them. He had the corked-bat incident, but hey, everyone makes mistakes!

Ummmm he hit number 600 in Texas not at Wrigley. Your other points are incorrect as well.

Corrected on the Wrigley. But tell me, when did he test positive for steroids? Have the Cubs won the Series since 1908? Did Sammy not start with Texas, and get booted from the Cubs? Are the Cubs still no closer to a Series win today than since they got rid of him? cool.gif
