Oklahoma must forfeit 2005 football season.

Doesn't this seem to be a bit extreme?

I dont know if the punishment is extreme. But I wonder what happened to Reggie Bush and his mom getting a house from an agent. Also I heard he talked with recent USC signee Joe McKnight and that brought some more NCAA investigation.

I will say this about Bomar, I havent heard great things about his intelligence on and off the field. He was a heckuva recruit though coming out of high school though, so Sam Houston State (1AA team Bomar now plays for) should have a shot to be pretty good.

Extreme? How so? They only lose two schollies, and keep their tv/bowl/revenue intact. This was a slap on the wrist. If this is all that happens with those kinds of infractions while on probation I'd question why everyone doesn't 'bend the rules' more.

I'm just curious how often schools win when they appeal an NCAA decision like this? 50% of the time? 10%?

I don't think this is extreme at all. It's a slap on the wrist. If they lost their revenue and were denied bowl appearances, that punishment would fit the "crime" more appropriately. This is an anemic attempt at meting out punishment.
