Hello everyone,

I am happy to announce that a group of guys is attempting to create a new, gay-friendly rugby team in Canada's National Capital region! Following in the footsteps of the Toronto Muddy York and the Vancouver Rogues, these ruggers and ruggers-to-be seek to form a team that will join the IGRAB, the International Gay Rugby Association and Board.

Rugby is a great sport to pick up as an adult -- as opposed to hockey or baseball, few North Americans start playing rugby when they're kids. Rugby also provides an excellent work-out: whereas in football the flow of play is constantly interrupted by breakdowns, rugby has very few game stoppages. There's a lot of running & tackling, rucking & mauling, and of course throwing the ball, and catching it! And contrary to some stereotypes out there, you don't have to be a big burly guy to play the game, though it is certainly necessary if you are to play on the front row (3 out of the 15 players). But there's room for everyone, lithe and fleet of foot, or slower but husky and strong. And again: lack of experience is irrelevant. We're open to all.

So if you would be interested in giving rugby a try, or are an experienced rugger who'd like to participate in this exciting adventure, please write us!
