Well thanks to the controversy, NYC Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta has issued a mandate that there will no longer be a calendar with FDNY firefighters. The 2008 issue, which is already available, will not be pulled from the shelves but it will be the last edition. The firefighter in question will not face disciplinary action because the video was shot before he joined the FDNY.

GTW, I say since you're in NYC go & buy up as many as you can & then sell them here & make a profit.

Actually I know many gay firefighters. I have two on the softball team I manage and the bar I work at has a monthly party/fundfaiser for their group FireFlag.

Do proceeds from the calendar go to charity? If so, then this decision seems like a serious overreaction.

I mean if that "video" was part of the charity fundraiser "seliing point", well then yeah I can see the controversy! However, puhleeze!, this country always overreacts to nudity, sex, etc. In other parts of the world it would have helped w/ the charity process.

Hmmmm!...Come to think of it. That video was exactly what the "boost" the FDNY was looking for to sell tons of their calendars. ...They should be saying, "Yes! That's what we were looking for, some exposure (figuratively & literally)."
