Wow, quality's really gone down. sad.gif

Everything is so tired now... and has there been a single episode where Dana Delaney's character hasn't cried? What happened to this show??

dachs
C'mon now! Any episode with Chris Carmack in it can't be all bad! biggrin.gif

I thought it was OK, but nothing special- disappointing after all this time off. It's been a much better season overall than recent ones just the same.
mdterp01
Yeah it was a bit lame.

Anyhow, I think the tornado idea was ridiculous, both from a scientific standpoint and as a plot device. I got the sense that last night's episode put DH one huge step closer to jumping the shark. What next, revolutionaries at Carols and Gabby's Moldavian wedding?

Aquaman you are so clever with your Dynasty references! I too (albeit 8 years old) was pretty disappointed that no one died in Moldavia except for the gay lover and that chick from the movie "Love Story". As for DHW, it has felt to me for a while that they didn't expect it to be a hit and ran through 3 seasons of storyline in the first season. Bree's husband could have died later, etc. etc. At this point I only watch it for scenes with the VanDerSnooties because they are so proper and elitist but so messed up at the same time. But they stick together because that is what families do. Everyone else on the show can go blow some bubble gum. Can you believe that "your brother blows bubble gum" is a Bugs Bunny reference? How inappropriate for children!
If you cannot tell I just finished a big work project and feel a little manic. I need to get outside.

They sure are doing a great job integrating the gay couple into the show aren't they? Maybe they got blown away with the tornado.

Some casting news from TV Guide online:

A Gale force is about to blow through Wisteria Lane, but this time the culprit isn't Mother Nature.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that former Queer as Folk cad Gale Harold has booked a potentially recurring role on Desperate Housewives. The Vanished actor — who turned up last November as a swastika-sportin' medic in a two-part Grey's Anatomy — will play a quick-witted, charming and buttoned-down suburbanite. Picture a young Jack Lemmon, only without a cross-dressing Tony Curtis dragging him down.

He'll be introduced in the May 18 finale and could return next season in a recurring capacity.

There's a report out there somewhere that said that in the season finale they're going to skip forward to...five years in the future.
mdterp01
Interesting finale tonight...it was pretty good. I like how the whole wrap up with Dana Delaney's character turned out. It was clear that girl either had a lobotomy or it simply wasn't her real daughter. I figured it was the latter. Very interesting and tragic.

The gay couple's commitment ceremony/feud was interesting.

The "five years later" segment was interesting as well. Gabrielle with no makeup and 2 chubby daughters but no sign of Carlos. Bree was married but was it the good dentist. Lynette's children obviously are still bad as hell and need a foot up their ass. And Edie locking lips with GALE HAROLD!! OH MY!!! Guess things with Mike didn't work out.

And by Edie, did you mean Susan? Or did you mean Kuznetsova? tongue.gif

Anyway......

Don't know about the rest of you, but this advance 5 years into the future just seems like a desperate (pun intended) gimmick for a show that I think has really gone downhill.

Meh.

mdterp01
Ooops...yeah...Susan...the one I can't stand. No wonder I forgot her name. With all the deaths that seem to happen on Wisteria Lane its too bad she can't be one of them. rolleyes.gif

laugh.gif @ the Kuznetsova remark.

I do have to agree though that overall, the show just isn't what it was. I still like it because I like camp and with the bombardment of reality tv its nice to see something fiction every once in awhile.

Actually, I thought the guy that Susan kissed at the end was Adam. I should of DVR'd it.. I really hope this 5 years in the future is some sort of dream by someone - It really limits any surprises for the next five years.

Fast forwarding, however, does allow for the creation of new secrets.

I have never cared about Susan's character or storyline, but I have a lot of respect wub.gif for blue collar guys who speak from the hip and have strong hands like Mike Delfino so it's too bad he's gone.

I care sometimes about Lynette. The fast forward does allow for the original premise of the show to return of the kids gone wild. They are just wild now in a teenage way.

Gabi used to be one of my favorite characters but she's totally forgettable now. How is it that you befriend a drug dealer selling out of your house who could get you put in jail by association, especially given your husband's prison record??? Because she had a rough upbringing? Get in line. Seeing Gabi without makeup is like really ridiculous and not the reason I watch the show. If Jesse Metcalfe wouldn't have ruined it for everyone by opening his big mouth we could have had him with Gabi by now.

And finally, Bree! The reason I watch the show. biggrin.gif I liked her with Andrew and Andrew in the suit as the uptight polished boy after his mother's heart. Will we learn that Bree once turned tricks too? (They never did explain how/why she changed from the woman Rex married who "drank out of the milk carton") And I was really stressed out that she wasn't going to end up with Orson. I'm thinking that Orson did a four or five year prison sentence and now they are back together. Perfect set up for when Danielle comes back and tries to get custody of her son. If there ever was a spin-off that's it. But if they did do that they'd have to break up Bree and Orson so I'd rather they not.

All in all, the show is still a night time soap with at least 1 really appealing female character which is what I like to watch. I don't set my calendar to it like Nip/Tuck, but that's also true because it's online and easy to watch. I say compared to the "lost season" with Alfre Woodard, this one was close to being closer to the ideal of the show. Definite B+

P.S. - If you really want to see a show wrecked after it's first season look at Grey's Anatomy. At least DH hasn't been destroyed by actors who forget how much money they are making because of ego drama. So it could definitely be worse.
jeffrey3410
what I don't get with Bree being all high and mighty about the law (asking Orson to turn himself in)--- didn't her whole family have a secret with the hit and run incident, and that she actually watched her stalker pharmacist die? maybe that's why I like her character.

I guess it's the kids in the show who lost their jobs in the next season, since they have to be all replaced by teenagers. Is Kayla coming back as a young sexy vixen to Wisteria?whose husband is she going to sleep with...
and I agree with jay--- those five years will bulk the story lines next season. it's a fun show to watch, but I'm glad I can ask my partner to watch something else on sunday nights, so I'm ok with the summer break.

I think this show really found its footing again this season. The addition of Kathryn's character was a real delight and I enjoyed the dynamic her interactions with the ladies (especially Bree) brought to the show.

The gay characters on the show annoy me. It's almost as if they are caricatures. I honestly wouldn't mind them being written off the show.

And now Brian Kinney (the gorgeous Gale Harold) joins the cast...my first true love has found a new home.

It seems like some spoilers I read earlier this season mentioned that Kayla was going to be killed. I guess they decided it would be better to save her character and have her cause more drama later in life.

And speaking of later in life, the one thing I'm confused about is whether the show is moving forward five years (as in next season will pick up like this one ended, five years in the future) or if that was just a glimpse.

Regardless, I think this was their strongest season since the first.

That's the big question. If they completely skip ahead there will probably be lots of flashbacks to explain some things, but that allows for Edie to come back after a five-year absence (since it was already announced that Nicolette Sheridan is definitely returning). On the other hand, if they go back to what happened there will be scenes of Susan and Mike being happy, but all the while everyone will know their relationship is doomed one way or another.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I guess it'll depend on what happens in the fall.

I say bring on the Heather Locklear factor to Wisteria Lane.

Camp it up even further bitches!!! smile.gif

I liked the episode Sunday night. great way to mix up the show a bit. I will miss Mike, tho, if he's not on the show next season. Won't miss the Scavo kids, tho...
High Tyde
Wow. Apprently the show is indeed moving ahead 5 years on a permanent basis.

I'll give credit, it's certainly an interesting concept for a clean slate. So long, Mike and baby Maynard Delfino, we hardly knew thee.
