Has anyone heard any updates about those poor people trapped in that mine?Last I heard they were drilling in the tunnel and couldn't hear any response. It was dead silence.I hope they are still alive. ohmy.gif

I have been fascinated with the news surrounding this tragedy. While I am hopeful that the miners are found alive, I fear that will not be the case. sad.gif

The person who really does impress me is the mining company owner, Bob Murray. In corporate America, it's rare to find a CEO who cares so much for his employees and to do so on camera. That kind of caring comes through, even with the venomous and sometimes vicious media circus that happens go along with these unfortunate events.

Is this the same Bob Murray who keeps insisting that an earthquake caused the collapse, even though the seismologists have stated that vibrations picked up by their instruments were caused by the collapse, not by an earthquake? The same Bob Murray who denied that the dangerous "retreat mining" process was being used in his mine, even though a Mine Safety and Health Administration spokesperson confirmed that retreat mining WAS being used there? Yeah, he's a real caring guy, all right.

Sorry UCLA but that guy seems like a total nut job to me. A real loose cannon. He keeps saying it was an earthquake when most every expert I've seen says it was not an eartquake. He also denies that the controversial reverse mining was being used but I can fairly certain from what I've read and heard that it was. He seems to be playing a game of Cover Your Ass.

This tragedy got much worse last night. Three rescuers attempting to get to the trapped miners were killed and three more injured when part of the mine collapsed on them.
