Full Version: Would you travel for Gay Day w/Phillies?

Thinking about scheduling of next year's event. If Gay Day w/Phils in new ballpark was a weekend game, a weekend travel (hotel/tickets) package was available, would you seriously consider traveling to Phila. for a weekend to attend this game? I'm not posting this as a poll because I want to see geographically where the responses come from. Thanks.

Absolutely, scottie. The #1 reason I didn't (couldn't) attend this time was because the game was on a Tuesday. Planning the game on a weekend next year sounds like a great idea.

I'd love to have a reason for a weekend roadtrip!

Absolutely, Scottie! That is, assuming I have a job by then...

I think you guys know my answer already. right?

I mean ... I already traveled from Kentucky for a weekday game with the Phillies just to see Duckworth blow it before anyone even knew the game had started. But I got to experience Geno's Steak sandwch in the VIP Booth. that was cool.

I would travel to Philly for a game, if I had enough notice, and it was a weekend game, all the way from Montana.

We may need to take up a collection for my plane ticket. Anyone feeling in a charitable mood. he he he

Weekends and advance notice would definitely be a plus. Other events/activities would also be a bonus (ie. if the game was on the same weekend as a film/music/food/gay festival).

For Outsporters, the chance to meet and socialize with Outsports friends is also an incentive, but for non-Outsporters (and people who don't have friends in Philly) I think you may need other incentives to bring in people from other cities.

Also, have you considered co-ordinating Gay Day with other cities/teams? ie. cooperate with Gay Days in Philly/Atlanta/Chicago/Dallas/Minneapolis/San Francisco/LA/etc. for sponsorships, cross-promotions, advertising, etc. With many events, it may be possible to get an airline/hotel sponsors/discounts, have national advertising, a website that would link to individual cities.

As I discussed with you, I want to try and get a Gay Day going in Toronto for next year. And given the success of the Phillies Gay Day, I encourage Outsporters in other cities to do the same.

Sounds like fun, how far is Philly from D.C.? I can get to D.C. on Alaska Airlines with my partners flight benefits... smile.gif

I can do the same on my partner's benefits (Horizon). We can be the Marinerfan/Mariner Duck Boy caravan! The M&M boys go east. biggrin.gif

Philadelphia is about a 3 hour drive from Washington DC or you can get here easily via Amtrak from DC's Union Station.

Canmark has some fantastic ideas, but regardless what else is happening in town, you can be sure any visiting Outsporters will be made to feel welcome by us local guys (just ask Ung, Pat125).

Anyone who wants to organize this event at their local ballpark, send me an e-mail and I'll love to give you some feeback regarding what I think really made this event successful.

If we went together you could fly with and up your seniority status from Horizon employee to Alaska. I have been bumped on Horizon flight for that very reason....

I like that the M & M boys!!! biggrin.gif

Just thought I'd bump this up to try and get a few more responses for scottie. biggrin.gif
