I KNOW I will be watching. I have lost quite a bit of interest in the show since Rosie left, and thanks to summer reruns. I am sure Ms. Whoopee will energize the Show.

Whoopee is a talented and funny lady. And she hates the republicans and Bush. Remember when she made the comments about Bob Vigra Dole several years ago? Great stuff. And what the hell would Dole need viagra for? Its not like him and his closeted wife are going to be doing the nasty or anything. His dick is as dead as his arm and his brain.

She's already making headlines today for her comments about M. Vick. She apparently said something to the effect that in the south dog-fighting is normal - that people don't know better...something like that. I didn't actually see the show, just read the first, breaking reports.
Is dog fighting normal in some parts of the country? I have a hard time with this one - I love dogs yet pit bulls to me are a definite proven danger. In SF, the mandatory neutering laws have apparently made a difference. This is a different issue though...Having a pit in your back yard for dog fighting strikes me as a real horror.

What I heard her say and I watched the whole Show was that she said in certain parts of the country this ( dog fighting) was considered normal, much as cock fighting was in parts of Asia. I didn't really find her defending Vick per se, at all, unless I really missed something, but thats what I heard. Otherwise I thought the Show was good. Didn't talk enough politics IMO though. Possibly saving that for another day. They had alot of bases to cover. DeVito was funny. Almost seemed snockered again today.

Lots more talk about Lemoncellos. I look forward to tomorrows show too.

Slavery used to be quite normal too in certain parts of the country.

Oy vey. I never would have thought that Whoopi would defend dogfighting. That was sooo appalling. Animal cruelty is immoral.

Whoopee did not defend dog fighting. In todays second installment she completely explained her take, again, on the Vick controversy. She said its all she had been reading and hearing about, obviously. She again, stated she in no way condoned anything Vick did, in fact she said she is an animal lover and has many horses, and found what he was accused of doing extremely distasteful in the least. As I posted yesterday, it was my opinion by saying what she did yesterday that she did not support Vick or what he was to alleged to have done, or is accused of doing, but the media she said " edited" her comments, which they did, to make it sound like she was supporting him or his actions. She is NOT!

SHe wasn't supporting him but she was, in a way, excusing and explaining him. I grew up in a time and place where referring to people as the n-word was commonplace. Guess what? I grew up and learned that it wasn't acceptable to do that. And I bet Whoopi wouldn't accept my upbringing as a reason.

In my opinion, she was explaining. Nothing more. Explaining does not equal excusing. Living in TN, I've been called boy, the n-word, and even been glared at for enjoying the friendly company of white women. Do I understand that some of the people who do these things were raised that way and still have a Jim Crow mindset in their heads? Yes, it explains why they did what they did. However, because I can identify an explanation doesn't mean I excuse the behavior.

Thats EXACTLY what she was doing and she had to clarify what she was said on yesterday's show. I clearly understood that she was not excusing his behavior, but rather explaining the culture of it. But ya know...people are on their toes ready to pounce on the first blip Whoopi makes. And ya know what...I certainly think Vick is scum but I also realize that there are many many people who do not place the same value of life on a dog as they do another human being. I read that Vick has the support of many southern white males because dogfighting is viewed as a sport to many southerners. Where in any of Whoopi's statements did she say "defend" or "excuse"?
Thank god Whoopi is on there. I can finally watch The View again. Other than a few episodes that I eventually ended up changing the channel after a few minutes, I haven't watched a full episode of The View since Star Jones left.
NoirDore...have you always lived in TN? Ugh...I can not f*cking stand the deep south. I have too much of a northern mentality and I often find that when I'm in the south, particularly the "deep south" certain people will speak but give you that "what are you doing here and when are you leaving" look. I also tend to find that some people of color have this "I know my place" mentality so as to not stir the pot with things. I couldn't do it. Twice in my life I've been in a fight. Once when this kid spit on me and the other when this "good ole boy" called me the n-word. I just won't tolerate racist comments. Fa**ot doesn't bother me half as much as calling me the n-word.

Yesterday to no ones surprise, Sheri Shephard also joined as a regular. Personally I like Sheri a whole lot, and had they not picked Whoopee she would have been my top choice, but I think 5 talkers is too many, unless Babs is not going to be around alot more. Yesterday was the first day with all 5 and it seemed like to much for me. I think 4 talking heads suits the show better? Anybody elses thoughts?

yes 5 is too many! Why did they include Sherry after Whoopie was doing so well. The 4 of them hardly get a word in anyway!

Well it does appear that Babs is busy as she was not on the show yesterday and it was much easier to listen and follow. Lots of topical comments on politics which of course I enjoyed. Brittany as well...poor dear.

Yeah & this is a man that thousands, if not millions, of Americans tune into to get their "news." I loved it when he claimed not to be an investigative reporter, nor a reporter, but a commentator.

And even further, that he doesn't check facts. What a blistering buffoon! Whoopi was right to call him that. And I liked one of the public posts on the site which said, "Whoopi said it all, what a pooper scooper he is."

The funniest part to me though was when Glenn said to Joy "You said that the Democrats have a lot to answer for" and Joy said "Sure" and then he pointed to Elisabeth and said "You said something against the Republicans" and Joy said "No she didn't". It was hilarious to me because Glenn couldn't even finish the word 'Republicans' before Joy was like "No she didn't". Even the audience laughed at that one.
