It is sad that he couldn't share his personal life with anyone in umpire school or the league, including his "really cool" umpiring partner. Are Tyler and Neil Turner still in touch? It might be interesting to hear Turner's view on the subject.
What about the Northwest League? Do they have any kind of anti-discrimination policy covering other protected classes? Can we assume it doesn't include sexual orientation? (Why the hell are sports organizations still getting a pass on this, anyway?)

Would the league stand up for, or even hire, an openly gay umpire?
