Jeremy Wariner is thinking of doubling down to the 200m SPRINT from his specialty of 400m to more quickly achieve, and no doubt surpass, his idol Michael Johnson's five gold medals.

Ahead of Schedule.

I think it could be a mistake. He's young. He can afford to be patient. As another poster has noted in HJT he seems to have lost weight in his face suggesting intense workouts and weight optimizing.

The 200m may take more energy than he thinks - in training and competing.

It would also put him in competition with some of the most neurotically fit athletes on the planet. Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay will likely both be competing at that distance. To beat them will take more than running talent. It will take a lot of concentration on an event that he hasn't competed in at such a high level.

Gay is reportedly exhausted after winning both the 100m and 200m at Osaka. The toll on his future may be more than he thinks.

My advice to Jeremy Wariner, for what it's worth is:

PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME

We want to see more of you!
