Actually because the game is at Michigan - it will be on ABC. NBC is only stuck with all the home games for ND.

And as far as I am the topic of games in the 'Big House' - talk about having a schedule skewed in your favour - although it has apparently backfired already on Michigan. Of their 12 games - 8 are at home and only 4 on the road - that does not seem fair. Plus their road games are all relatively short trips, to Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin and just down the road to Michigan State.

In fact their first 4 games were all scheduled at home including the two they have already lost, the ND game this week and then Penn State on the 22nd. Starting the season with 4 home games to me, just does not seem right. Notre Dame is not much better with 7 home and 5 road games - including 5 home games in a row at one point. Although at least their road schedule does have them fly out to California twice with games at Stanford and UCLA.

Does the NCAA have any regulations as to how many home and road games you can schedule?

The strength of the opponents you schedule is a much bigger factor, and since there aren't any restrictions on that, why should there be one on home games? It's a chance for small teams to play in front of a huge crowd and earn some money for their programme.

Schools like Buffalo and Florida International earn more than $500,000 with one trip to Penn State.

Still, I think Penn State is a program that often plays to the level of its opponents, and in the long run gains very little from scheduling three such games every year. We had the chance to put Pitt back on the schedule--something that would have been good for BOTH schools (Pitt, probably more than Penn State), but Joe refused to even consider it, and instead put "cross-state rival" Temple on the board (we're playing in Philadelphia this year, which will still amount to a home game, just as playing at Heinz Field would).

It was great to have the 2-game series with the Domers, as much as I loathe them, and I would love to see Penn State put some of the programs back on the schedule that we shared such great rivalries with for so many years before we make the mistake decision to join the Big Ten...WVU, Syracuse, BC, Alabama, Nebraska, etc. Instead, next year we get to see Coastal Carolina.

While I'm at it, let me add the following to the discussion over the value of this week's game between the Domers and Meat-chicken.

Let me be absolutely clear, I am no fan of Michigan, but I try to buy into this whole "good of the conference" thing, so in a battle of two of the three pillars of the Axis of College Football Evil, my head, but not my heart, is with scUM in this game against the Greater South Bend Parochial School for Troubled Boys, or as the writer of mgoblog calls it: SSONIINI (Small School of No Importance in Northern Indiana).

For some "Gleeful Notre Dame Bashing" from a Michigan blog...including a very disturbing Clausen-in-a-Speedo pic, check out The M Zone.

And specifically on the ABC's having to choke down this game: We All Lose.

I love seeing Notre Dame lose. Is Weis in the hot seat the way Ty Willingham was? No! I hope their losing streak continues. Good move by Demetrius Jones. He did what was best for him. Good luck at N. Illinois buddy.
