Full Version: Jose Mourinho leaves Chelsea

Enigma
The man who once said, "Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European Champion and I think I'm the Special One", is now out of a job. In a move that literally made my jaw drop, it was announced that Jose Mourinho and Chelsea had "mutually parted ways".

According to early reports, Mourinho had a falling out with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich following Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Rosenborg in the opening match of UEFA Champions League. While the result was certainly disappointing when you consider the talent on that Chelsea squad, it definately wasn't worth the parting of ways with Mourinho.

Whether you like him or not, there's no denying that Jose Mourinho is one of the brightest young coaches in European Football. Stats don't lie...

FC PORTO
Super Liga Champions (02/03, 03/04)
Taca de Portugal (02/03)
Portuguese Super Cup (2003)
UEFA Cup (02/03)
UEFA Champions League (03/04)

CHELSEA
English Premier League Champions (04/05, 05/06)
FA Cup (2007)
League Cup (04/05, 06/07)
Community Shield (2005)

But here's the thing, Roman Abramovich is such a power hungry owner that demands perfection, it's nearly impossible to please the Russian Tycoon. He throws around money like there's no tomorrow and expects to win every single Championship possible. While I understand his desire to win, it's simply impossible to acheive such perfection in today's world of sports. Look at Real Madrid - the "Galactico" experiment proves that you can't win with superstars. You need the right mix of superstars and role players and that's something that Jose Mourinho did right in Chelsea, unlike coaches with Real Madrid. But along came Abramovich, who told Mourinho who to buy *cough* Andriy Shevchenko *cough* which ruined the chemistry on Chelsea and Mourinho's master plan.

You have to let the mastermind do his job and unfortunately Abramovich didn't do that, which led to this massive falling out.

So what next? What happens to Jose Mourinho? It's simple my friends and can be summed up with three words...

Portuguese National Team.

Jose Mourinho has always said he'd like to coach the Portuguese National Team one day, and here's a perfect opportunity. Luis Felipe Scolari has been losing his magical touch in recent Euro 2008 qualifying matches, highlighted by his outburst against Serbia which saw him try to attack a Serbian player. While the FPF has said they won't terminate Scolari's contract, which expires at the end of Euro 2008, everyone is still waiting on UEFA's decision on whether or not to punish Scolari.

Assuming that UEFA will either fine or suspend Scolari, why not use that as an excuse to terminate his contract and bring in Jose Mourinho. Like Scolari, Mourinho is a proven winner and a brilliant tactician. The time is now to bring Mourinho into the fold and help lead Portugal to the promised land. I have no doubt that Mourinho would be able to find the right mix of players to bring a long awaited Championship to Portugal.

Jose Mourinho, head coach of Portugal's National Team

Has a nice ring to it.

Bad times to be a blues supporter. We all kind of saw this coming, but yesterday's thumping at Old Trafford makes this so much harder to cope with.

And now there's reports that Abramovich is running the tactics for the club.... talk about an owner being WAY TOO INVOLVED!!! I suspect guys like Lampard, Carvalho, and Drogba will all be asking for transfers in the near future.

I saw in the BBC today that Drogba said he will honor his remaining contract and so will the rest of the current players. They better win UEFA this year or those 10 body guards Abramovich brought to the Carling Cup match today are going to be working overtime.

Drogba wants out and he wants out now.
