After a season managing the Greenville Drive, Gabe Kapler [1] [2] [3] has announced that he wants to come back to the bigs.

ETA:
Oops, dupe post... what BoSoxRudy said. And I agree with BSR's assessment -- aside from his sex appeal, G*** K***** is a fine man and a real "team player".

I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. I mean, I loved Welcome Back, Kotter as much as anyone but he's not all that.

Kapler doing well in his comeback.

"I wasn't a very smart player. Seriously. I never played the game. I was always up there trying to kill the left fielder, hit home runs, stupid stuff. When I started coaching, I started realizing what the game was about. I learned the game as a coach. People tried to teach me the game when I was a player but I was too hard-headed."

I like this quotation as well:

"It's just being thankful for everything that goes right, but also for the experience then things go not so good," he said. "Just enjoy that moment versus looking ahead and looking ahead and looking ahead and then everything goes by. I've done that before. Now I've moved to a more, 'in the moment' approach."

Yeah Kabbalah!

P.S. - I've set a personal goal to try and catch Joe in Philly in terms of the number of posts I have... biggrin.gif
