This is a great kid who is coming out to his family, his team and the world at the same time. Check out the story:

Good for him. Nice article. But where is Willamette College?

Well, it is Willamette University, I noticed College was used in parts of the article, and it is in Salem, OR. they are the first university in the west and was formed in 1842 during the time of the Oregon Territory.

Outsports: What first inspired you to run, and what built your interest in it?
Millard: Its hard for me to distill any particular inspiration that motivated me to start running. Some athletes pick it up from another family member or have a family history of running, but that wasn’t the case for me. I’ve just always had the drive to run. In elementary school I remember the sense of euphoria I got when I would just pick up my feet and go. Running felt so freeing. I don’t think I lost any races in elementary school, but since then the competition has been a little stronger. Joking.

Hmmm....Why did I think of Forrest Gump when I read the above? tongue.gif

No seriously, very nice article. Congrats Millard!

An awesome article as always Cyd. I found it interesting how he had to battle his faith when coming out... it's inspiring for those who do have some sort of belief system in an organized religion.
