Dallas is hosting the Gay Bowl VI Flag Football Championship on October 6th – October 8th

Anyone participating or planning on attending the festivities? Since my cousin just moved to the Dallas area, I figured this would be a perfect time for a visit to the area.

As for the participating teams, I don’t’ play, but my loyalties can be bought. smile.gif At the moment, my support is going to the Phoenix team because I can get one of their shirts.

More information here: Gay Bowl VI in Dallas

And here’s a special message for:

Raze, there was a shout out for you to come watch the game from a member of the Phoenix team and a current “on permanent vacation” Outsports poster. Said person also said that after the game on Sunday, you can go to a bar to watch TO(sucks)’s return to Philly & watch the Pokes lose.

I would like one but only if I can remove it directly from someone's body. If that's the case I'd find a way to make the trip. biggrin.gif

LOL - 'Said person' will not even let you identify him? Wow. Why would he want anybody from Outsports there then?

When is the final game on Sunday? I have sent messages to the Gay Bowl website with no response. It appears no one's home there. I'm coming in for Texas-OU and might change flights on Sunday to catch the final game. However, it's kinda hard to plan when there's no info.
Jim at Outsports
Final will start 2:30 or 3 p.m. and be done around 5:30 p.m.

'Said person' obviously needed no identification since Raze knew who it was and gave his reply.

Maybe I should crash the party. I have a $75 voucher from US Airways I could apply towards a plane ticket instead of using up my miles. Not sure, though -- money's still an issue.

There are a few people from this board in the tournament in Dallas, including Jim and me. Good times!!! biggrin.gif

What team are you guys on?
Joe in Philly
Whichever team has a former NFL player? tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif My guess is Cyd will play on the NY team and Jim on the LA team.

I was looking at the website for the Gay Bowl and it doesn't have a heck of a lot of info on there -- I'm wondering where the games are being played as relates to the official hotel. This would be a concern for me, being a non-driver.

Chad Johnson has a bye that week and is debating playing for LA or NY. biggrin.gif

I sent them an email with this very question over a month ago and never got a response.

I can't think of a field anywhere near the hotel. Texas Stadium is 5 miles away, but there's no bus or rail service there.

Jim, thanks for the info. Apparently no one with Gay Bowl VI will answer any questions. It looks like others are having the same problem. Hopefully I'll see you and Cyd in Dallas during the weekend. It's a great experience to be there during TX-OU weekend. The Red River Shootout is a LOT OF FUN!

I have sent an email as well, and I haven't received a response. I want to talk to the captains/GMs of the teams to see if I can do their apparel for the tourney...
Jim at Outsports
Send jim@outsports.com an e-mail and I can pass it along. Let me know specifically what you offer. It might be a bit late for this tourney but you never know.

I want to apologize for the lack of response to messages sent through the Gay Bowl VI website. Due to a previously unknown error, none of the messages were received. The problem has now been corrected and all requests for information will be answered.

If anyone continues to have problems or difficulties, please feel free to contact me directly.

Jim, thanks for taking care of the issue. I appreciate your responsiveness. Looking forward to watching the tournament in Dallas. Couldn't be a better weekend than during the Red River Shootout.

Yep. And we have some posters and former posters on the Phoenix, Houston, Chicago and San Diego teams at least.

So we have a former NFL player. Is that so wrong?
Joe in Philly
Yes, because it's not Mike McMahon. He needs a job, dammit.

I keep hearing "bom chicka bom bom" music when looking at picture 5!
Cyd at Outsports
Yep, that's him. And Stinger actually let him play in non-punting downs this time around!! smile.gif

Can you give us any idea of results????

I heard there's already been a hookup, but I've decided the reporter isn't totally reliable. laugh.gif

Hey Everyone:

A great tournament down here. Cyd's NYC team won the title and was a totally deserving champ. My LA team lost in the semis. Other than spraining my throwing shoulder, I had a great time!

We were both here in Dallas all weekend, which is why the updates on the site have been a bit slow, but we will resume regular programming today. laugh.gif
softballstud
Congrats to you both. Do you know how we can view all of the results?
Cyd at Outsports
Well, that was an incredible weekend. Jim and I will be writing reports in the next couple of days. Jim's team lost in the semifinals to Chicago. My team beat Chicago in the finals, 25-19. Phoenix, featuring Stinger and PhillyFan, were in the consolation bracket - not quite sure how they did, but I know they got better as the tournament went on.

More to come . . .
softballstud
Thanks. Looking forward to the reports.
