I'm just now catching up with the first season on DVD and am definitely hooked. It's been a long time since I saw such a rewarding show, and I'm kicking myself for not catching on earlier.

I enjoy "Ugly Betty" (which I also discovered when the DVD was released), but "Friday Night Lights" is in another league altogether. It's one of the few shows I would race home from work to watch.

I hope it catches on with more people this year. (Incidentally, has the new season started yet?)

Oh, it started. And you missed a whooper of a 2nd season premiere.

It's now on the appropriate Friday night, @ 8pm, central.

Now they don't have to miss anything, just go watch the premier online at www.nbc.com

Click on either "Shows" and watch the video there or click on "Watch Videos"

That's what I did Sunday night.

Best,

Such a great show. I'm one of the few I guess who gave this series a chance from the beginning. I was born and raised in rural East TX (although it's rural by definition) smile.gif , so I understand all of the fanaticism with the locals toward their beloved Dillon Panthers. I remember those days all too well...

But anyway, I agree about the 2nd season premiere. Great start...although, I'm not sure about the Landry/Tyra situation. I saw it coming but hoped they wouldn't go there. None of this can end well.

And for the record, Coach Taylor and Tami are hands down the most realistic marriage on TV. It's so believable, they have amazing chemistry, and I enjoy watching their scenes. Great performances each week. BRAVO!!!

Based on your recommendations, I watched the seriers on dvd in three days. Saw the first three episodesof Season 2 online. Having the majority of each episode shot on location, makes every show that much better.

I normally don't watch television (except for Sundays), but this show will change my tv watching habits this fall - Rent the 5 Discs of Season 1 - You will be glad you did.

Excellent Television!

To All FNL Fans:

We might have just seen the last episode ever of Friday Night Lights. I started watching Season 2 because I kept hearing from all over how terrific this show was, and they were right. I look at and talk about the characters as though they were real people, not because I'm a kook biggrin.gif but because the show is simply that amazing. The writing is superb, and the acting is pitch-perfect. I got so intrigued by the characters this season that I went out and bought the Season 1 DVD, which turned out to be the best bang for my entertainment buck ever.

As for great scenes, there are too many to review from the entire season, or even from just the last episode, but gotta mention two: Tim Riggins' sports Christian radio show, where every good little girl in town calls in to ask the resident bad boy out on a date, and Coach Taylor and Mo McArnold's brawl at the restaurant. Both bits gave me a big ol' belly laugh.

If you love this show as much as I do, or even half as much, please log onto the NBC website (bottom lefthand corner -> Contact Us -> pulldown menu halfway down the page -> Select Show -> Friday Night Lights -> email form appears), and ask the NBC Powers That Be to please Please PLEASE renew the show.

This season was way too hit and miss for the most part, but I still love it. I hope we haven't seen the end of it.

I think the best episode was the penultimate one, and Saracen screaming in the shower at Coach was like vintage season 1 goosepimple-worthy stuff.

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello is reporting that NBC is close to a deal that would bring FNL back for a thiurd season. The deal would involve DorectTV, so i all likelihood, it would air on DirectTV first and then reair on NBC. Not the best scenario but if it means this great show gets a third season, I'll take it!

It's official...Friday Night Lights will return for a third season!!! It won't be back on NBC until the winter of 2009 on Fridays at 9pm so I assume that means it will air on DirectTV first in the fall. Still it's better than nothing.
