Michael,

Thanks again for replying so quickly. I am really looking forward to my first Winter Rendezvous and visiting Stowe, VT.

I am originally from Texas and spent a majority of my winters skiing in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico. So, I am very interested to see what Vermont has to offer.

I hope that there will be many single men at Winter Rendezvous and that I get to meet ALL of them!!!!

Several friends of mine and I are planning on going. I've been the past few years and always have fun. I've never been to one of the huge gay ski weekends (Aspen or Whistler), but this one is nearby and I usually know and handful of guys. It's small, but usually pretty social.

Aquaman,

I am REALLY looking forward to Winter Rendezvous. Hopefully there will be 3 of us from Columbus, Ohio, but at least 2. We will be flying into Burlington VT on 1/30. Have you ever taken of the one of the van services (Pegs Taxi or The Blazer) or do you rent a car?

Davis!

The Taxi Svcs from the airport are very good, and a couple of the big lodges have Airport shuttles, but...

Depending on how much you want to get around you are probably better off renting a small car.

I can't speak to the airport or car services. I live in the Boston area, so I drive my own car up for the weekend.

I have not visited the organizers' website (is there one yet?), so I don't know if they make you buy certain entertainment packages or if you can buy tickets a la carte. Last year, friends of mine bought the packages and thought some of the entertainment was... ehh. I have to give the organizers credit, though, as doing this is no small undertaking and they can't possibly find entertainers that appeal to everyone. I've heard that some of the stand-up shows have been good.

This will be the first time I'll be staying at the host hotel. In the past few years I've gone, I stayed at a large b&b rented out by a group of gay friends. Staying in the b&b always made me feel a little out of the loop in terms of the official activities, so I am looking forward to staying there this time.

I don't know if you're into X-C skiing, but last year I did X-C one day at the Trapp Lodge. It was probably the best day of X-C I've ever had. The conditions and terrain were awesome.

I am interested to know if anyone has ever received a massage at the Golden Eagle Resort? And what you thought. Was it a good experience? Would you recommend it?
aquaman
The host hotel (Commodore) is sold out, so a few friends and I are staying at the Golden Eagle. I don't know about the massage/spa facilities there, though. Sorry!
FDavisG
Aquaman,

I am staying at the Golden Eagle, too. I had 5 others that were coming, but 3 have offically cancelled. I still have 2 that I am hoping will join me..if not, then I will be all my myself...whats a man with a room and King size bed all to himself to do..hmmm

It is cheaper to rent a car at BTV, then take pegs or the Blazer, besides you will want a car to get around, Stowe. It is spread out, all the various activites, are at different locations. get a car.

The wedsite where you can learn more and Register Online is www.winterrendezvous.com You can pay as you go to each event, but it will end-up costing you more and you will not get the discount vouchers for lift tickets or rentals. You better off registering in advance. have fun!

Just wanted to report -- a couple of weeks late -- that the gay ski week in Stowe was fun. Conditions were pretty good, though it was so windy on Saturday that they had to shut down a few lifts. I happened to be sitting in a hot tub on Saturday afternoon and chatted with the guy next to me who turned out to be.... Davis! Small world! He's very handsome, and a super-nice guys, by the way. But only a select few get to see his tattoo...
LoveJavy
Hey, glad y'all had a good time in Stowe... Does anyone know of any other upcoming ski events that are on the small-scale side? I'm not much for a huge, circuit-style event, but since my ski buddy is now hooked up and unavailable, I'll probably be going alone and wouldn't mind some kind of gay social aspect to a few days skiing. Any thoughts?
FDavisG
Aquaman,

Thank you for introducing yourself, I was hoping that I would meet you. Thank you for the nice compliments and I would just like to say "right back at you!"...You and your friends were very nice. Maybe I will see you next year in the jacuzzi? Who knows..I might have another tattoo?? Take care, have a great year...I am on myspace if you are interested..fdavisg..Columbus, Ohio...
