Saner heads have prevailed and according to reports today - it looks like the requirement for passports for land travel between Canada and the U.S. - which was scheduled to come into effect some time next year - has been scrapped. Apparently 'Enhanced Drivers Licenses' will do the trick. At least now I won't have to take my passport with me to Bills and Sabres games.

Yep, this is in line with what I had been reading and hearing about here in Wash. State. I welcome this move, now lets get going already!

TRAVEL ADVISORY! Anyone entering Canada, be forewarned: you may be killed by an RCMP taser.
This is a horrific story, and Canadians are justifiably outraged by what happened to a Polish man at Vancouver International Airport last month. I'm sure many of you have already seen the you-tube video. While I sympathize with the families of the two RCMP officers recently killed in Nunavut and NWT, I've lost all respect I ever had for the 'Mounties' as a whole---once a proud Canadian symbol and now a source of shame and embarrassment. Corruption at the top (the pension scandal), utter incompetence (Maher Arar), and now excessive force which cost the life of an innocent man.

I'll take my chances with the RCMPs as opposed to some other police forces, say the Mexicans
