Hello everyone!
Sorry I was away when this article was first posted. I am back from a faboo vacation and was happy to read everyone's responses to the list. A few things:
1. Marat Safin and James Blake were both in the original hottie list from two years ago, which was really based quite heavily on looks alone. This year, I didn't want to repeat too many players. What's the point of doing a second list if it's going to be the same? So, although hotness was still an overriding factor in selecting players, it did seem to me that being a non-factor in the game was decidedly un-hot. And James and Marat didn't make much of an impression this year. Sharapova didn't make the list for the same reasons, although her year wasn't quite so bad as Blake's or Safin's. I didn't want the list to be so hum-drum predictable, as BoSoxRudy surmised. Remember the previous list's #1 was Feliciano Lopez. ha ha ha. Gotta keep you girls talking!
2. Being the writer of the article, obviously my opinion weighs quite heavily on who is chosen. However, I omitted Rafa from the last list and Jim immediately took me to task. Rafa is not my taste, but I have to admit that's a nice ass, so between Rafa's backside and his advocates in high places on this board ... he made the list. After all, Jim is co-founder of Outsports. Nadal had that factor on his side, let's face it, power is always hot.

3. Retired players are not considered for the list. Otherwise, Gabriela Sabatini would be number one for eternity. It's just not fair. Pete Sampras, not so much.
4. This year's list was about looks and also about leaving an impression on the game. I think Golovin is pretty, but she made the list so that I could write about her red panties. Bethany Mattek, eat your heart out.
5. As far as this article versus the real results in tennis from the year, yes, it's fluff. It's just something silly, rather than a serious year-end review. Gaby was chosen among People magazine's original group of the 50 most beautiful people in the world way back in 1991. I remember her being asked if it bothered her that people paid so much attention to her looks and she said, no, that it was a compliment and nice because it was something personal. Something outside of tennis. That's all this is. A compliment to the hotties and a little fun at the end of a long, hard year. So to speak.
6. I never understood the love for Tipsarevic until I practically bumped into him at the US Open this year. Oh my God, he's so hot you wouldn't believe it. No picture can do him justice.
